Craig Smith for Jordan Farmar
Why for Us?
This trade does two things for us. First, it gets rid of an undersized PF, since we have a couple too many. Second, it upgrades our PG talent and our depth. Farmar instantly becomes our starting point guard.
Why for Them?
Farmar has been a benchwarmer lately with the good play of Shannon Brown. One of the Lakers' biggest flaws is that they have no interior toughness, and that they are a finesse team. Smith instantly brings toughness to the backup PF position.
Thoughts?

Seems fair for both teams, although I can see why LAL might not think so.

Farmar isn't much of an improvement over Brown and Telfair so I say no.

I'd be OK with that. I'd prefer this to be a draft night trade, to make sure we haven't addressed our PG needs in the draft. I think Farmar has potential, so maybe a move would help him.

Wow really? Last year, he averaged 9 pts 3 ast in 20 mins. This yr, Telfair averaged 10/4 in 28 minutes. So Telfair needed an additional 8 mins to avg one more pt and ast.
Farmar would automatically be our starter. He has good size (6'2"), plays solid defense, and can do THIS and THIS

If we can get Hinrich and Farmar, i'm loving our PG depth.

I couldn't bring myself to do it. I love the way Cookie plays, and he's incredibly efficient when he's on the court. But if we manage to snatch Griffin, it would work out perfectly.

I've watched him all year and he's been very disappointing.

I agree with shrink that this would be a good draft night trade if we don't get a PG. I'm pretty sure we will, especially at #18, but you never know. I'd rather have Hinrich as a player but not as a contract.

Laker fan was fishing on the trade board for the #29 + Farmer. I think with a signed #29 + farmer for cookie they save ~.5m with lux added and get a more productive player. If you coupled this with shrinks hinirch cap trade with telefair subbed in I think thats a very solid lineup for next year.

Re: MIN/LAL
While he's not what I'd want in a long-term starter, I'd much rather have Farmar playing major minutes than Telfair. They're both below average scorers, but I like Farmar's size and defense and I don't see his distribution as being that much worse than Telfair.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

they were probably thinking they'd get a top 10 pick since Farmar is a great prospect and the #29 is just as good as a mid lotto anyways since this draft is the weakest of any draft in NBA history ever ever and all the players outside of the top 2 are going to be 5th round draft picks in the NBDL and the rest will be beaten to death for wasting our time typing up scouting reports on their sorriness
