Dag, they cleared out the whole freakin stable. I'm not shocked though. I just want a guy who is proven and has had some success in the playoffs.

Popovich should prove hes a great coach and quit SA and sign with Sac. If he can get this team a ring he'd be the GcoachOAT.

Avery Johnson chokes in the playoffs. To be embarrassed by an 8th seeded team is inexcusable.

Not surprised by the firing. He was set up to fail. It's like trying to teach a bike to ride a person, it just wont work.

I was hoping that they would keep Hamm, I liked the guy, but I dont see him coming back. I texted him a little but ago to see whats goin on with him, I'll let you guys know what he says.

Yeah, I expected the firing a long time ago since his hiring as the head coach to be honest haha.

But I was surprised that, Jason Hamm was also let go. Outside of Coachie, he too played a similar role of the growth of Martin. I wished the Kings would have kept him but business is business. (What a cold thing to say haha)

Hold up did i just read that the money allocated for the coach hiring is 1M-2M????? WTF who they looking at to hire Randy Brown????? WTF is this about

Man I tell you these idiots we have in our front office and owners are realllly wearing out the fans patients thin! This is unbelieveable! 2M?? Wow. And i really could care less to the person's that would make the arguement that why should we break the kitty to bring in a good coach when the roster is trash.
Well, id say to them, STABILITY!! We have absolutely nooooo stability on this team/organization as far as i can see.

Here is another Blog by Sam
http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/sp ... 21775.html

According to this, the Maloofs are saying GP is in "COMPLETE CONTROL" of..... get this....the "coaching search". At least they're not lying; he is the boss at searching for candidates BUT when it comes down to hiring, those clowns screw up everything and mix all sorts of personalities in the mix when this is business! I mean geees who ever seems to be the front runner for the gig, the final step is for them to meet Great Grandmother Maloof????? :? and if SHE doesnt like you your the first thing packing. When these guys understand that this is business and they drop all of the personalities involved, we as kings fans are going to have to stomach alll this garbage for a long time.

Im so fed up with the Petrie hype on this board! The guy days here are numbered. He's out of touch. Both parties need change. Do us a favor Geoff, TAKE A HIKE and take Whisnant with you!

Ok. So I asked Jason what his plans were if there was any chance of him staying, where he may go, etc.

He texted back a while ago and this is what he said.
"M..Chance I stay but we will have to wait and see. My agent is working on other jobs as we speak so we will see. Thanks for the text and wish the best. If I can help in the future wether with Sac or not do not hesistate to call. J"

I said that I won;t hesitate to call him and said thanks for all that...hopefully he will be back but if not I wish him the best of luck wherever he went.

He finished with this, "Thanks. Best to you as you embark on the start of your future. If I can be of any help with anything call."

This is why I wish we could hold onto Jason. He is an all around good guy. He by no means needed to even do the interview I did with him, but he gave me his personal number, and has done and said more than he has needed. Hopefully he can stick around but we will see in the next few weeks.

I saw the Natt firing coming, but didn't think they would get rid of ALL the assistants...what's interesting, though, is that Shareef Abdur-Rahim might be back...

How does this have any relation to anything else in your post? All of your complaints can be squarely blamed on the Maloofs, and very clearly too.

But it's nice to see that it at least seems like they are finally handing control of this over to Geoff.

I'm not sure why everyone is surprised that the entire staff was let go. It's pretty standard with coaching changes...clean the slate and let the new coach have a voice in his staff. It doesn't mean that everybody on that staff is now permanently banned from Sacramento. Once the new coach is in place, he can decide to bring some of them back.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Because at the end of the day Geoff is the man "in charge". Lately he's not been getting the job done. He's allowing the Maloofs to run him like a puppet on strings. Hiring these stiffs as coaches (even though i thought Theus was a good pick), and justifying the hirings! Signing mediocre players who are nothing but role players to 2nd tier contracts.

And yet people here still call the guy a Genius?? Hmmm. Also, its like once you can "impress" him in a workout he signs/drafts you. It seems if a guy can come into a work out, juggle three tennis balls, while being able to dribble a basketball and able to shoot a three with a hand in their face Petrie is head over heels for you and drafts. And then justifies it by saying "oh, he's sooooo versitile, he can do multiple things on the court" smh.

I guess to answer your question Mitch......im friggin fed up with the whooooooooole entire organization from top to bottom. From the owners to the guys that locks up the arena! They jokin!
Everyone! And they cant be serious trying to hire someone for 1.5M thats hilarious!

When my respect comes for GP again is when he does like majority of REAL gm's and get is clowny ass out of that office and coach this team that HE assembled! If you want to save money then save it that way! Then and only then id say well Geoff is trying to get this team on track. Because hoping you find the best kept secret in the coaching world is not going to work! Hoping you find a Jerry Sloan in these young guys for cheap a la Eric Natt and Theus is only wasting time and money.

Beacuse think about it.....add up the salaries of those guys now and the new guy who willl be coming in. Thats almost 13MILLION dollars right there already!!!!!

The point is Mitch, Geoff needs to get it right the FIRST time. Their is noooo reason why we should be paying guys while their home laughing at us stink! WOW 13 million dollars down the tube just like that!

But the thing is that the last two coaching picks were mainly picked my the Maloof's. Im pretty sure Theus was mainly picked because of how they could market the team.

Do you guys remember when Theus started coaching the kings??? Every halftime stat, or trivia question was compared to or was about Theus.

So, it's Petrie's fault that the Maloofs are micro-managing idiots? They are his boss...his choice is do what they say or don't have a job. Petrie is spending their money, which means that he has to work within the boundaries they set up. They could have very easily said "here's your budget, Geoff, now go do what you have to do to build a great team." Instead they took the position of "here's the money you have to spend, this is how we want you to spend it and the people we want you to spend it on". That process has failed miserably over the last few years. But instead of blaming the idiots that put Petrie into that impossible position (Joe and Gavin), you blame Petrie himself. That's just silly.

-1/2

+1/2 for me!

You have half a point imo. Yes i agree with you the most of the blame is solely on those morons we have as owners in Joe and Garvin. I've cast blame on everyone mainly them. But I decided to zero in on Geoff. Okay, we all found out that GP is nothing more than a stand up figure when it comes to hiring coaches. He's a lacky, in this situation he can only bring some candidates to the Maloofs feet for them pick a servant -- YES I have said all of this. BUT it isn't the Maloofs who go and sign guys like Beno Mikki, Ostertag, Draft Douby, traded bibby for what???? low key players who still expirer in 09 anyway??? smh. No it was not the Maloofs; it was GP that did these things.

And that was only a 1/4 of my arguement. I noticed that you didn't bother to comment on the coaching thing. In this regard, the Maloofs like you said are "micro-managing idiots". I guess they really see the sense of not giving ONE great coach a contract of 10+ million dollars but have 3 (soon to be 4) scrubs(coaches) sharing 10+ million dollars -- which 3 of them are home, going to the ATM when ever they need money to buy milk. Thats inexcusable and is the height of stupidity.

Because it was the Maloof's decision! If Geoff ultimately isn't the decision-maker, how does it make any sense whatsoever to blame him? Nobody is arguing that the coaching decisions have been detrimental, just that it's ridiculous to blame Geoff.

You can argue about his FA history, sure. But the Bibby trade was purely a cost-cutting move--it wasn't made to improve the team, it was made because he had to cut salary because the Kings otherwise would have been well into the luxury tax.

And really? You want to argue about Geoff f**king Petrie's draft record? Go ahead and point out his one real mistake in the last decade while ignoring the picks of Peja, Hedo, Wallace, Martin, Garcia, Thompson and Hawes. The fact of the matter is that, given the place of a lot of those picks, you won't find a better draft record in the league.

Return to Sacramento Kings
