Sounds like something for SnP, I will ask him.
I think the individual workouts will be big for Curry. Seeing how he goes against the "more" athletic prospects.

Re: End of regular season draft board
I can't help but keep comparing this draft to 2006.
Top euro prospect - Bargs/Rubio
top big man prospect - Griffin/Aldridge
a player that can do everything well, but not great - Roy/Harden
a high scoring guard who could drop - Redick/Curry(Way better passer though)
athletic wing with tons of potential - Gay/Derozen
energetic/athletic forward with potential - Thomas/Hill
UCLA PG that might slip - Farmar/Collison
Athletic and defensive guard who could slip - Brewer/Henderson
Great shot blocking big man with limited offensive skills - Sene/Thabeet
I'm just having fun with this, but this could be somewhat of a 2006 draft replica, so lets take Harden and RUN!

Ok, so who's the under-sized shooting guard that's gonna try and pretend he's a PG? Jrue Holiday?

Re: End of regular season draft board
How do Gay and DeRozen compare coming out of school? Hmmm... I've been looking at him from a poor man's VC/PP perspective, and from a Gerald Green type perspective, maybe I've been mistaken.

Good stuff. My vote for the 2009 Foye (super athletic, streaky shooter, undersized SG who'll try to covnert to PG) would be Teague.

Ah Teague. I'd been trying hard to forget about him, and it seems I was able to. Then you had to bring him back up.
And clearly Gay = Clark.

Re: End of regular season draft board
DeRozan compares well to Gay. Though an inch shorter, he's coming out as a Frosh vs. Soph, shoots better from the field (52.3% vs. 46.0%) though Gay had a three point game DeRozan does not yet have. DeRozan gets to the line more but Gay shot better from it. Gay put up much better defensive stats. Both are good rebounders. There style isn't entirely comparable, as DeRozan seems much more the dribbler, but their bodies are quite similar and, if DeRozan can learn to shoot from outside he might be expected to try to fit into a similar NBA role.

They compare so well because they're different?
I think Clark's demeanor compares well to Rudy.

Rudy gay average of his two seasons at Uconn:
13.6 ppg / 5.9 rpg / 1.8 apg / 1.3 spg / 1.7 bpg / 2.3 TO / on .46% FG
Derozan stats of his only season at USC:
13.9 ppg / 5.7 rpg / 1.5 apg / .9 spg / .4 bpg / 2.1 TO / on .52% FG
13.6 ppg / 5.9 rpg / 1.8 apg / 1.3 spg / 1.7 bpg / 2.3 TO / on .46% FG

Re: End of regular season draft board
On the topic of DeRozan comparisons, look how well his freshman year compares to Jordan's.
-------DeRozan ---------------------- Jordan
min------33.4----------------------------31.7
pts-------13.9----------------------------13.5
reb------5.7------------------------------4.4
ast-------1.5-------------------------------1.8
to--------2.1------------------------------1.7
stl--------0.9-------------------------------1.2
blk-------0.4-------------------------------0.2
fg%-------52.3-----------------------------53.4
ft%--------64.6------------------------------72.2
So, in other words, we should probably expect DeRozan to put up at least 28 points per game next year.

Re: End of regular season draft board
Derozan seems to play harder than Gay. Gay has definitely improved his skill set since joining the NBA but his lack of effort is pretty galling. Even if Derozan doesn't match Gay's offensive skill I'd be surprised if he didn't do more that contributes to winning. If I were you guys I would be trying really really hard to get Rubio. The need for a PG or Center on your team is glaring. I'm still not convinced that Thabeet won't put it on cruise control the minute he starts making mone, so that really leaves Rubio.

Foye is not super athletic, above average for a guard but certainly not above average for an scoring combo guard that has issues playing point.
Jeff Teague is on an entirely different level in terms of athleticism.

If by an inch you mean 3 inches and even more in wingspan...you are absolutely correct.

Rudy Gay is listed at 6'7" in socks and 6'8" in shoes at Draftexpress, and DeRozan is listed at between 6'6" and 6'7" depending on where you look (6'6" in shoes at the Nike Hoops Summit). Hardly 3 inches.
You're more than likely right on the wingspan, though. Gay has a freakish wingspan.

Re: End of regular season draft board
It is a heck of a lot closer to 3 inches than it is to 1 inch. The hoop summit measurements tend to be inflated, and Gay only got 1 inch thanks to his shoes where most players get more than 1 inch with their shoes at the pre-draft combine.
Add in the wingspan, and its more like 5 inches.
The two players just don't compare that much, other than their freakish athleticism...

You're probably right. I was grasping. I still don't know what to make of DeRozan.

Re: End of regular season draft board
DeRozan is known for having a crazy work ethic, but might have a low celing based on BBIQ. Gay is one of those crazy gifted-everything come easy, but has apathy and hardly cares to lead. DeRozan sometimes defers too much, Gay sometimes is a ball-hog.
Watters, let me give a far based comparison. DeRozan reminds me of Dickerson. Very physical player, decent tools, good character but lacks the alpha mentality. Nice piece, but not a stud.

What evidence is there that Derozan has a low BBIQ?
That is other than Floyd's offense making it look like everyone has a low BBIQ.

I think it depends a lot on how you define BBIQ.
If you define it as the capacity for a player to gain basketball related knowledge, then a guy like Gerald Green has terrible BBIQ, and DeRozan has shown this year that he at least has average BBIQ.
If, on the other hand, you define it has a player's all around knowledge of the game right now, then they both have terrible BBIQ, Gerald because he just isn't very smart and DeRozan because what little coaching he had before college was very bad.
Edit:
Jonathan Watters wrote:The two players just don't compare that much, other than their freakish athleticism...
I definitely agree with this. Gay is absolutely a Small Forward physically, whereas, DeRozan seems to have prototypical Shooting Guard measurements.
