Boozer!!!

Post#1 » by DaDragicShow » Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:42 am

Why in the world would Jazz fans even think about getting rid of Boozer. Dude just played a crazy game and finished with like 23 points and 22 rebounds. Plus he was injured for quite some time and is finally getting back to playing great basketball.

Boozer has been huge this postseason, keep it up and the Jazz will have no choice but to let Millsap walk.

Many people just want to blame someone, and jazz fans have chosen to place all blame on boozer. He has been injured all year and people think he's just faking them or doesn't care. Go to the game thread and read some comments about boozer and you'll see how even when he does great things, people still have negative things to say:

Hell of a game by Carlos. If he played like this every game, we would be a 2 seed. That's just the thing, he can do that when he truly wants to win the game. When he cares. Why doesn't he ALWAYS care? He gets the game ball.

Millsap's played pretty well also.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

This is a very intriguing situation to watch as a Piston fan. It reminds me of the Rasheed/Okur situation.

I love what Boozer did tonight, but I want to see it for a season. I'm tired of him getting injured. We would probably be a 2 or even 1 seed if he was healthy for the season and played like this. This team needs consistency, and we haven't had it for a while. If he can avoid injury, he is the man, but otherwise, he is not.

I gotta say, most people don't really look at the whole situation. I was one of the biggest Boozer fans 2 years ago, and last year I liked him alright. Near the end of the season I wanted him gone, not because he wasn't producing on the offensive end, that never bothered me cause I knew that would come back, it was his huge lack of any help defense. You watch him tonight and I was impressed with his offensive game and the rebounds, truth is he's one of the better 4's in the game today when he plays with a fierce attitude, but I was more impressed with his help defense. He switched off the screens and actually STAYED with Kobe until Kobe's defender could come back before he'd hurry back to Gasol. He's never probably going to play great defense but he does all he needs to do when he plays like he's got a chip on his shoulder.

Boozer is someone I don't think we can let walk IF he plays like that. Which I think if he stays healthy he will. But I don't want him on this team and that was my whole reason to make that thread about forcing him to opt out if he doesn't come to play every night. He has a lot of potential. I liked him in college and I like him now when he plays like he played tonight. His last dunk was crazy because he punched that in with authority. He played like that against the Rockets 2 years ago, daring Yao to try and stop him. If he plays like that do the unpopular thing by resigning him and letting Millsap walk. I know that sounds crazy but Booze runs the pick and roll better and he can actually finish when healthy. Millsap is a huge overachiever but he does not finish like Booze does. I'm all for keeping him if he puts up the kind of effort we saw tonight. I like the guy, I just want him to come to play every night. He had a great game tonight!

I gotta say as well, we need to give it up for the way AK came and lit a fire under us to start the game. I know he turned the ball over and made some bone head plays, but he had a huge impact on our energy. If he came back next year like that and we kept a healthy Boozer and Williams around... Watch out!

It was a direct quote from me. But I would like to ask GP, how many more wasted seasons do you want to have to sit through again? It's not like he doesn't have a track record of this kind of thing. I don't think he was faking his injury, but that doesn't matter. Deron and the rest of the team aren't getting any younger. Matt Harpring could be a key to having a championship team, but is way past his prime. Milsap put together an incredible run, but was exhausted at the end because he had no relief. Who else would you blame for this season? Sloan? Sure, you could put a lot of blame on him, but I'm sure it's pretty difficult to coach a team when your key players are injured.

I'll give Boozer full praise when he comes to play on a regular basis, not just for 1 game. He gets paid way too much (AK) to only do this once since he has been back. IF he keeps it up, we will see that it was only the injury holding him back, but if he lays another couple eggs, we will know he is lazy. Too bad we may only have 2 more games to be able to gauge this...
