I don't think so. I honestly think that after a season of sitting out, near the end of his prime, you'll see the two sides come to a buyout agreement in the offseason. It won't be some mega-savings for the Pacers, but I do think it will happen. Tinsley should be starting in the NBA somewhere (if Beno Udrih can, then come on) and a parting would be very good for both sides.

If the Hawks allow Bibby to walk, I could honestly see them offer Speedy Claxton for Jamall Tinsley. Straight up deal. Claxton would give the Pacers an expiring contract, Tinsley would give the Hawks a possible starter at PG.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Claxton last night. We could do that and then move TJ to Dallas for Starck and #1 pick.

Both Foster and the #13 are usable assets for us, hell we can can probably get a pick in the 20ish range with Foster alone, but in this weak draft it's probably not on the cards.

So that basically leaves us with Banks, Kapono and Humphries.

With TJ, Jack, and Diener here, Banks would get no time here, so we'd still remain with nearly $5m in dead 2011 salary.

If PG was of concern we'd just as likely use the #13 or trade TJ for that void.

Kapono won't get anywhere near enough time on court to justify that price tag, and the downgrade from Foster to Humphries hurts us also.

Even financially there is nothing to enjoy for us.

Foster and Tinsley combined for 2011 salary is $14,305,500

While Banks, Kapono and Humphries combine for $14,689,026

So in actual fact we add more salary. We'd like Tinsley moved, don't get me wrong, but that's a little too steep for my taste.

As far as Indy's concerned, you might get Tinsley for Kapono or Tinsley for Banks and Humphries and the $3 million and a 2nd rounder or two, but you're not getting Foster and the 1st round pick. That's just absurd.

As far as Indy's concerned, you might get Tinsley for Kapono or Tinsley for Banks and Humphries and the $3 million and a 2nd rounder or two, but you're not getting Foster and the 1st round pick. That's just absurd.

If the Raps want JT then it's a simple deal like Scoot said, JT for Kapono or JT for Banks and Hump. the money and the 2nd would be nice but not a deal breaker in my opin. Hump or Banks either one could be dealt in other deals later, kapono is a useful player for team depth.

However, to bring him in for about 15-20 minutes a night off the bench behind Granger and a little behind Rush would be pretty solid with his long-range prowess. Perfect fit off the bench for this offense.

I also agree. If we get Dunleavy back we are even more backed up, though. Better to have that problem than Tinsley taking the Pacer's money, though.

I am taking the O'Brien approach with Dunleavy: I am going to look at next season as if he won't play at all. If he comes back and produces, then it's just a bonus.

i agree though that my first was a bit off and that a deal of Kapono for Tinsley works but needs a bit more value to TO, they are taking on a larger contract for an extra year and while Kapono has definetely had his issues he is still a weapon and if used properly can effect games.

i guess if McRoberts is back or another contract 1.5million + the Raps would definetely do Kapono and Banks for Tinsley and filler

yeah I'm pretty much thinking that by 9 all the top guards will be gone, evans, harden, dd, jennings so Raps need a guard and Rush is better than all them

Perhaps Clark could be interesting, but overall with his consistent defense and recent offensive spurt, I do feel that Rush is a definite keeper for us.

I'm struggling to find options for a Tinsley departure, and it's looking more likely that a buyout could help both parties.

I am not and never have been a big fan of Kapono, but for Tinsley, i'd do it in a second. Just get the guy off our roster already. Although, I don't think Toronto would seriously consider a Kapono for Tinsley deal.
