OT: NBA Playoffs

Post#1 » by fatlever » Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:09 pm

Who is everyone rooting for? sometimes i have no idea who i want to win a series until i start watching. i even find myself rooting for a team one game then the other team the next.

i'm rooting for:

jazz over lakers
mavs over spurs (barely, i found myself rooting for the spurs in game 2 when parker was going nuts)
rockets over blazers (i'm not ready to hear about how great the blazers are just yet. let yao teach oden a few lessions first)
nuggets over hornets (if only they werent the hornets i would LOVE that team)

pistons over cavs (but really i could care less)
bulls over celtics
sixers over magic
hawks over heat

i have no idea who i would root for to win it all.

I'm rooting for Denver and Houston. I like Billups, Melo and Karl in Denver and I want Houston to win it so Deke gets a ring.

I'm rooting for the Lakers, I love Kobe. I'd be shocked if LA didn't win it all.

I think it's funny how T-Mac predicted LA to win it all but his own team has a chance to face them in the next round. And the Rockets are definitely better without McGrady.

yeah, part of the reason i want to see houston do well is to rub it in the face of tmac. battier and ming are two of my favs... and i kinda dig artest... oh and scola... he's from argentina. go rockets.

i'd like denver more if kmart and jr smith were gone. i hate those two... but i like billups, nene, melo, kleiza and birdman.

I want all the arrogant fanbases to lose. This includes some duplicates (Chicago/Boston, Houston/Portland, all arrogant and I wish they all would lose) and most notably the Magic (want to see them burn), Lakers, and Heat. I believe the Heat are where they are because of bias by the NBA and Stern forcing the Heat into the playoffs by reffing.

You should give the rox a pass. Sure, their fans on realgm are arrogant, but Yao slapped you five!

I'm the same way.

Lakers over Utah but I want it to be competitive.
Mavs over Spurs. That's an easy one.
I started out wanting Rockets to win over Portland but I want Oden to do good so either way.
Denver over Hornets but CP3 needs to have a good series.

Magic over 76ers since they beat the crap out of us so much. The Magic that is.
Cleveland over Detroit. Spurs, Nets, and Detroit and Milwaukee are my least favorite teams.
If Celtics had KG I would want Chicago but some of the Bulls are hard to pull for. Dpn't care either way.
Hawks over Heat.

In the finals I guess Lakers and Cavs since it would be the best series. I want the Magic and Hawks to go far in the east and Por/Hou winner and Denver to go far in west.

That is true. Yao seems like a good guy and I can pull for him. I think he is underrated in the NBA, which is odd considering he is probably the player with the most fans because of China.

Yeah he is so good but he really doesn't receive enough attention. He can use either hand and he's got a mid-range shot. Also, like you said, he does seem like a nice guy that only cares about winning. That Portland/Houston game last night was very entertaining and it has been one of, if not, my favorite series so far.

Personally I hope Atlanta steals the whole damn show, they deserve to shock the world after all the trauma they've been through & have an awesome young nucleus that could do the job. (You'll all probably think I'm nuts)

Not that nuts, they're a young talented team, but I think they need a coaching/gameplan change. When I watch them on tv their half court offense is always a 1v1 on their assigned men. Probably not gonna get by D Whistle. The two series I'm practically in love with are Houston/Portland and Chicago/Boston. Always close games and in Chicago's case, thrilling high scoring games often going into OT.

Horford posterized JO. He threw it down hard.

I saw on the weekend, and I guess now it's going to continue, the media turning on CP3. Now that Rose and Rondo are putting on a show (not to mention Parker) they seem to have turned their backs on the poster child for what a PG should be.

Typical.

if the hawks want to beat the heat, they better blow the doors off the heat, getting up by 25 in the 4th quarter. any remaining game that is remotely close will turn into a d-whistle free throw parade.

so, should we take anything away from paul after another beat down by the nuggets? or just call it all a fluke? that team hasnt been right all year. maybe its all posey's fault. they should have used that money on another big man.

billups is making iverson look like an nbdl player. the difference between those two is night and day.

how bad do the spurs miss manu? really bad.

how bad do the rockets miss tmac? not at all.

which team down 1-3 has the best chance of turning things around? spurs, hornets or blazers?

Paul is still a stud - it's just his team mates around him that blow (with West being the exception). Seriously - look at their roster. If there was another X-Draft I'd put all of them up saving only Paul and West.

I say never count out the Spurs. Missing Manu is hurting them badly, but if anyone was to come back from 1-3, I think it would be them.
