That's a lot to give up but TT hates to move up so he must absolutely love the guy. Puts some heat on Hawk and Poppy, which is great.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

And some people will never be happy. I thought you wanted quality?

Two of the top 15 defensive players in the draft.

Analysis

Positives: Ascending player who may be just scratching the surface of his potential.

We got Matthews and a 5th.

Gave a up 2nd, third, third.

This draft is a crap shoot after about 50 players so I like the trade.

I love this trade. We got the NT we needed and now we got a linebacker who looks like he can really get after the QB and be a play maker... Those are two things that are essential to have in the 3-4 that we were lacking and we got them. I have always been a fan of TT, but today I have really liked his aggressive approach.

For him to give up that much for the guy must mean he really likes him... I think our defensive has a chance to be pretty solid next year.

I absolutely love it....Ted gave up alot but Matthews IMHO is the best of the USC backers , he has an incredible motor and runs in the 4.5-4.6 range.......bitch all you want but the staff feels they have a lot more talent than the fan base does and I trust them....plus you can always sign a Holiday or Carter for d-line depth.

TT has thought about strategies to get Clay for two weeks. Said he could have gone from 12-30.

We gave up too much but I love this trade. We're at the point where quality is what we need and in effect we just added a guy who could have easily gone in the teens and who I agree was the best of the USC lbs.

Quality as a person as well.

I dont care how many thirds we gave up if Clay turns into a "player".

Clay could have arguably gone in the top 10 and it cost us two whirds and a move from 2 to 5 to get an outstanding talent...

Love the trade.

I love this pick. thinking back to that Penn St. game, I went into that game to watch Mays, Maualuga, and Cushing, not really thinking about Matthews. Early into the game, however, he really grabbed my attention. He was all over the field, lining up at DE, dropping into coverage as an OLB. Constant pressure in the backfield, hard hits, making plays in pursuit. He also plays with a nasty, hard nose demeanor that should really pump some life into our D

Not a bad trade at all. We still can address other holes in the later rounds.
