Walton has ligament tear in ankle, Out 1 week

Post#1 » by Iamabeasttt » Mon Apr 27, 2009 2:06 am

O.C. Register: Game 5 is why Luke Walton was getting his ankle taped by Gary Vitti while in street clothes after Game 4 … because Walton wants to be able to play Monday night, but he acknowledged his injured left ankle was an awkward non-rolled sprain and “throbbing pretty good.” (Walton stopped on a third-quarter fast break to drop the ball back to Lamar Odom and “felt like the (ankle) bone sheared forward and came back.”)

edit:

Luke Walton has a partial tear of the deltoid ligament of his left ankle, an MRI exam showed Monday.

Walton, who suffered a sprained ankle in Saturday night’s Game 3 at Utah, will be out indefinitely and his status will be re-evaluated in a week or so.

update: out 1 week

LOS ANGELES -- Luke Walton will miss at least one week of the NBA playoffs with a partial ligament tear in his left ankle.

The Los Angeles Lakers' forward sprained his ankle in Saturday night's Game 3 at Utah. He had an MRI this morning, which revealed the partial tear of the deltoid ligament.

Walton, a reserve, is out indefinitely and will be re-evaluated in one week.

He is averaging 4.8 points and 2.5 rebounds for the Lakers, who have a 3-1 series lead over the Jazz going into Game 4 Monday night.

Yep, looks like an opportunity for Sasha to step up and play with Kobe.

I'd like to see Fisher/Vujacic/Kobe/Odom/Gasol more. That lineup worked really well last year

ok, it is either Vujacic or Shannon for that 2 spot. If I were Phil I put Sasha at the starting spot, Shannon looks surprisingly comfortable coming off the bench

Odom, Gasol and Bynum on the same time on the floor.

He's already proven that he sucks no matter who he plays with. Is he going to suddenly start making wide open shots because Kobe is on the floor? Highly unlikely.

We don't need to mess with the lineups too much. Let Bynum/Gasol control the paint and get some more burn before the Houston series, and keep Odom coming off the bench. The last thing we need is Vujacic coming in and screwing up the flow of our starting unit.

If we go big with LO, Gasol, and bynum.. they'll go small on us and will be laying up on us all night..But we'll be getting a lot of rebounds though hehe.

I say put sasha out there first and see how he does.. If not yank him out and put in shannon. Bynum hasn't been much of a big factor compared to LO or Gasol but every little thing counts so no matter what, he's helping us. Maybe Ammo can jump on in as well lol.

well, ammo was activated for this game, if we are in cruise mode at any point i am really interested to see what he can do...

that said, id like to see kobe at the three, as like a broken record, thats where i like him the best...

than shannon can more naturally be with d-will...

This is BAD news!!! He played well in game 4 and IMO he is a key contributor.

Damn... Now is not the time for injury, but at least it came to one of our least needed players... More time for Sasha, and possibly Lamar

Walton will perpetually be injured. He is damaged goods ... very, very fragile. I think the only reason he made it through this year without missing a lot of time is because we kept him out of the rotation for much of the first quarter of the season.

If he had been in the rotation then, he would have been injured in some way or another a lot sooner.

With Luke, 1 week is normally a month but I hope that's not the case now.

Luke has his Dad's broken down genes. He won't ever be healthy for a whole season. I'd be really sad if he could play, but honestly I'd take more of any number of subs than him.
