Tarde For #1 Pick... Sac & Mem
Im a kings fan and i have a trade idea...
kings trade... #1 pick/#23 pick/cash to memphis for mayo/#6 pick (you could swap gay for mayo as well)
draftexpress has the grizz drafting jennings, you guys just traded lowry and still have conley. i dont see what you would need with jennings. but with the #1 pick you could potentially draft either griffin to play up front with gasol or pick gasols olympic team mate rubio. neither team is ready to compete for a title or even the playoffs yet. if need be throw in one of the grizzlies unwanted contracts like jaric. im just a fan of mayo's, i dont like griffin and i dont think you guys have a pf.
what do you say? is mayo worth passing up on the #1 pick? with the #23 you could draft a pg like collison if you still need a pg.

Gay instead of Mayo. Most Grizz fans probably won't agree with me though. It may be a bit of a gamble, but I think we should definitely pursue this. Any team that gets that #1 pick, I think we should offer up Gay for it. I would hate to lose that #6 pick AND Gay, but I really don't see Gay and Mayo coexisting and we really need a pf.

Yes, Mayo worth passing up the #1 pick
I would do #1 for Gay
I would do #1 for Gay

I disagree that the #1 pick is worth losing Mayo. We've found a guy who can score, plays hard, defends, can be a leader, not afraid to take big shots (and very capable of making them). I don't see how we would be making any progress trading him. We will constantly be in rebuilding mode. Mayo is our best player. Let's hold on to him (and Gasol) and work from there.

Sorry, I put myself wrong (bad english)
Mayo worths more than the #1 pick; he´s the cornerpiece of our franchise, something that we never had (especially with the soft Gasol)

I agree with Barba and 360 - Gay would be worth moving, but not Mayo. The ironic thing is that Gay (IMO) has better skills and is athletically more gifted. Mayo has the "it" factor though. He's an alpha dog - in a big way. Gay may well end up being a star that never way due to letting it slip by - Mayo will be a star because he wills himself there.

I think any trade involving the two teams would need a third team. I'm not for this type of trade.

This is off topic from the original post, but if Memphis was picking 6th, and Brandon Jennings fell into their laps, what would they do? Pick Jennings and trade Conley? Pick Jennings and trade his rights? Draft someone else? I don't think Jennings is any better of a fit next to Mayo than Conley, but I think he will probably be the better player down the line. I also still like Mayo at PG. Any situation involving Jennings and Memphis would be a tough decision.

Re: Tarde For #1 Pick... Sac & Mem
In my dream* situation, we end with the #2pick from the ping pong balls, trade Gay for the #1, trade Conley for whoever picks Chase Buddinger.
our lineup would be:
Rubio (#2) - the perfect PG to play alongside with Mayo. Defends and don´t need to score to make diference in the game
Mayo
Buddinger
Griffin
Gasol
*but then I woke up and remember we´re the Grizzlies and how lucky we´re

Just draft Tyreke Evans. A 3 guard rotation of Conley, Mayo and Evansis top notch and they all bring something different and compliment each other. Evans also would have the ability to play SF in small ball lineups.

Interesting idea, but that is too young for my tastes. I endured one season of that already.

I definately know where you are coming from BG. However, a core consisting of Mayo, Griffin, Rubio, and Gasol has MUCH more potential and compatible with itself than a core consisting of Mayo, Gay, Conley, and Gasol, which is where we are at right now. If there was any way possible to get Rubio and Griffin on a team with Mayo and Gasol, I would definately look into making it happen. All four of those players seem to have that "it" factor that Gay and Conley don't seem to possess.
The way BarbaGrizz proposed getting that core is unrealistic however. To get Rubio and Griffin on the same team, we would most likely have to land the #1 pick, draft Griffin, and then pull off a trade like Rudy Gay/2009 2nd round pick for the #2/bad contract.
Also, Conley has much more value than Budinger, so if we got Rubio, I would rather either trade Conley for a top 6 or 7 pick and take someone like Earl Clark, or trade him for or upper-echelon bench player and a mid-late 1st round pick (i.e. something like Barbosa and the #14th pick for Conley and the Orlando 1st round pick ).
However, Heisley probably doesn't even know that basketball exists outside of America, so we probably won't be getting Rubio. We will end up with the 6th pick and draft a hack like Jordan

I'll glady trade Rudy Gay and #27 for the #1 pick.
Gasol
Griffin
Juice
Conley (I guess)
Arthur
Lotto pick on Earl Clark
Not a bad core to work around.

That is true. Maybe I could learn to handle it if that were (highly unlikely) to happen.

Yeah, I'd totally do #1/#23 for Gay/#6. There's a HUGE talent difference at the #6 and #1 (Griffin).
Not only fixes our PF problem, but also exchanges the soon-to-be-enormous contract of Gay with another four years of a rookie-scale contract.
