We Definitely Have Options This Summer

Post#1 » by gpguy25 » Mon Apr 27, 2009 4:00 pm

Seeing this article on McDyse has me thinking and I know he chose Detroit over Boston (dumb move on his part we could use his ass more than anybody right now) that aside, it is going to be a lot of money to sign the young guys, but we have some bargaining room. Powe is hurt and has had a history of injury so that could be used to sign him for cheaper. I think baby is going to want a good chunk of change and I think that we could let him go. If we could sign McDyse this summer for 2 years I think that would be solid, he's worth it. I am not too worried, because I don't think we will have both Powe and Baby. Common sense says you sign the guy who has not been injured, but I think Powe is a tough guy and he can make his way back. How awesome is it that both those guys are 2nd rounders and now they are going to be getting good contracts. Great drafting danny.

Goooo Celtics

This.

I'd rather have McDyess than Baby, but Baby may be easier and cheaper (relatively) so who knows how this will play out. Chicken McDyess has shown he is not committed to winning, so much as he is to being "comfortable", so not sure how good a fit he'd be here anyway...

At this point in their respective careers I'd rather have BBD then McDyess, BBD has stepped up his game big time and will be a valuable bench player next season. If some other team pulls a Posey and overpays we move on, but I'm hoping he stays right here. I think Powe is gone in the offseason unless he signs a one year min deal with us and we have the available roster spot. It's sad, Leon is a good player and a good guy, but the timing of his injury was just terrible for him. Either way, this off season has more promise than the last, some good vets to be had and possibly less competition for their services.

Leon will be back...he really has nowhere else he could go. It will be cheap for us, though...too bad for him... :(

I would take McDyess. Leon will be back with the Celtics as their 15th man next season making about $1.0 - $1.5 million with a 1 yr deal. Leon will probably be ready to play about the same time the Celtics usually pick up Cassell, Moore, Brown, Marbury etc.

Keep Powe, let Baby go and sign McDyess...McD is what we hope Glen turns out to be...but I have a feeling we're getting something bigger than McD...something like Rasheed... :)

I think the Celtics keep Powe & Big Baby and McDyess becomes the new Mikki Moore. Rasheed is a quitter, not my first choice.

Huh?.......McDyess and Powe BOTH have major Knee issues (we have TA and Walker too )...Big Baby is turning into Charles Barkley right before our eyes---and you wanna let HIM go?.......hmmmm.

Barkley is kind of a stretch there man. LOL.. But im not saying I want to let him go...I just think he is going to ask for alot of money. And I don't think Danny will give him all that money. Powe will be cheap, and McD will be cheaper than Baby..plus he is alot more consistent. We need consistent players next year, because it might be our last year of top notch ball by the big 3...we can't have Davis playing 'Barkley' ball one daY, and the next he is playing worse than Mikki Moore(like yesterday with the 126 missed lay ups)...and I think TA probably leaves too...

How are people seeing Barkley in Davis? Davis rebounds once in a while and still isn't a better rebounder than Powe. Barkley's staple throughout his collegiate and NBA career was his rebounding. He always did it, you relied on that if he were your player. Davis doesn't always rebound. If he does anything in a game. That should be it... But, he doesn't... Enough of the Barkley comparisons. Personally, I hope this is Davis' last season with Boston. There could be better options in free agency to replace him.

Agreed, but McDyess is no winner, either...he obviously chose being comfortable over winning this past season...no reason to think he'd do otherwise in the future...

Well if Powe's injury has anything positive to it, that would be it. We might be able to resign both now..which would be awesome. But what do you mean by McD becoming the new Mikki?? You think he is going to suck like Mikki? Or he is going to be signed at the end of the year like Mikki?? :uhoh:

I don't see the Barkley comparisons either. Barkley was a friggin beast, legend player. Baby is so inconsistent and average so far. He can be pretty good when he gets going though...I would like to keep him...

Yep. Barkley gets more and more underrated for each year that he is out of the league. That guy was friggin unreal.

He takes Moore's roster spot. McDyess is a lot better than Moore.
