I'm more terrified by the possibility of Schultz playing instead of Morrison because of the alleged biting incident.

No. The number one and number two seeds can't play each other until the ECF.

So who plays who? I believe NHL uses an odd system where the lowest seed plays the #1 seed or something. I just think they should have brackets and get it over with.

If Caps and Hurricanes win...Boston plays Canes and Caps play Penguins?

If Caps and Devils win...Boston plays Devils and Caps play Penguins?

Either way, if the Caps win we play the Penguins then?

It's the same system as basketball. Highest seed plays lowest and so forth.

If New Jersey wins game 7: Capitals play Devils and Capitals have home ice. Bruins play Penguins and Bruins have home ice.

If Carolina wins game 7: Capitals play Penguins and Capitals have home ice. Bruins play Hurricanes and Bruins have home ice.

Who would you rather play? I'd say Devils...Martin Brodeur looks human.

The Devils play the trap system that completely neutralizes our speed and we don't have the toughness and grit to match them in a seven game series.

PIttsburgh is a better matchup because Fleury is inconsistent and they play a wide open game. Then again, god forbid we lose to them. The Ovechkin/Crosby debates would become infuriating.

Either way, I don't think it matters all that much. Each team has it's strength and weakness. In the end, it all comes down to how WE play. Detroit is the only team in the league that can stop us when we are clicking on all cylinders.

If brash is suspended for game 7 -- and unfortunately I think there's a decent chance, rightly or wrongly, that he will be -- it would be huge if Clark is healthy and ready to go and Bruce can plug him in on the fourth line. he's clearly the consummate team guy and would do anything to get on the ice and help the team.

If he can't go, I wonder if they call up Aucoin. I just can't see them using Nylander, especially given where the opening will be.

If Avery didn't get suspended for his hit on Jurcina than I honestly don't see how the league can suspend Brashear. The Rangers whining could be a factor, but I just don't see it.

Brashear is suspended for the next 6 games; 5 for the hit on Betts, and 1 for the little push he gave Orr in pregame warmups. This is way more harsh than I expected. I thought he might get 2 games max, if he was suspended at all.

Is it wrong that, whenever I see something blatantly unfair towards a Baltimore/Washington sports team, I automatically think LeBron is responsible?

Was Brashear really doing anything of note anyway?

Not really, just being a goon like he has been since his days in Philly.

IF the Caps win, I want New Jersey. Their PK is weak and I think we can solve Brodeur. We didn't have much of a problem scoring goals against them this season. They're a slightly more talented NYR, with a slight edge in goal and offense. Pittsburgh is well-rested and is an offensive firepower that could make Varlamov pay for some of the rebounds he gives up. I'd rather see them and Boston beat each other up and hopefully play the banged up winner in the ECF IF we were to get there. NJD is going 7 just like us.

Yes, he was. We've won three of four since he's been in the lineup. His toughness is especially critical in the playoffs... his forechecking, even in limited minutes, is top notch. Make no mistake about it, we will miss him.

True, but keep in mind he had less than 4 minutes of ice time last game. I have a good feeling about Chris Clark, which I haven't said in a while. Thinking about going down to the ESPN ZOne to watch in hopes of participating in some postgame revelry. We'll see.

I think against the Rangers he's extremely important. We need to have a guy go in there and crack some heads and raise the team's emotional level. To be our answer to Avery basically. We need that. A lot.

I'm actually really worried about him being out. If the rangers come out and score a goal in the first ten minutes and get their energy level up and take the crowd out of it, man that's gonna be a tough game.

Even if they just keep us from scoring in the first period that'll put doubt in our mind. We need to be emotionally up for this one.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

The only thing that will take the crowd out of this game is a swine flu pandemic, a la the Mexican soccer league.

Caps fans aren't Wiz fans. The VC will be earsplittingly-loud all night, no matter the score.

Varlamov saving the Caps asses on about 3 different instances in the first minute of this freaking game.
