Davis has shown improvements this season so I hope he stays. The Anthony Mason comparisons are probably the most valid and I'd be very happy if he reached Mason's potential considering his draft number. Boston may need help at the 1, 3, and 5 so I can see them going after 2 of those positions but it may be hard to address all 3. They definitely need height and a point guard would be preferrable. I could definitely see a trade around draft time which gives Boston their needs rather than using free agency for it.

re-sign Marbury for his 20% bonus or the bi-annual (whichever works out more)
sign Sheed for however much of the MLE it takes
trade Scal + TA for a back up 2/3
Sign Davis to anything up to 4 mil a season
re-sign powe for the min

perfect off-season for me (outside of magically picking up artest somehow)

This season, Andersen averaged over six points (6.4), six rebounds (6.2; 2.3 offensive) and over two blocks (2.4), and had an average of .548 field goal and .718 free throw percentages in only twenty minutes a game this season. Yeah, are you telling me you wouldn't want that production as oppose to having Mikki "I've Been A Celtic Before" Moore. Ainge likes Andersen... And he's an UFA. Andersen might prove to be the best big man option for cheap. Wilcox, Swift, J. Smith, McDyess and Gooden are other UFA options. If I'd a choice, I'm looking at Andersen and McDyess. A sleeper choice is Brandon Bass if both Davis and Powe aren't resigned.

But it's the acquisition of Chris "Birdman'' Andersen and his spectacular play after missing almost two seasons because of a drug suspension that has the Nuggets doing so well, coach George Karl suggested.

Andersen is one part of the Nuggets' frontcourt trio of Comeback Kids, along with Nene, who returned from testicular cancer, and Martin, who's overcome microfracture surgery to both knees.

"You have a cancer survivor that has been close to an All-Star year. You have a guy that has been maligned here because of his contract and now finally gives the foundation to a team that everybody expected of him,'' Karl said. "And then you have Chris Andersen, who, when I put in the game, there is a spirit to him walking up to the scorer's table. That doesn't happen in pro ball.

"Even the haters like Chris Andersen.''

Andersen's ban lasted almost two years after he tested positive for an undisclosed "drug of abuse.'' He said he spent his time away from the game cleaning up his life and plotting his return.

"I kept a positive mind through it all. I stayed optimistic. I knew I wanted to come back and to be in the position I'm in,'' Andersen said. "Being on a team in second place in the Western Conference is just one of the rewards that I got through the hard work. The hard work paid off.''

Karl was worried last summer when the Nuggets had to ditch defensive stud Marcus Camby to save $20 million, half of it in salary and the other half in luxury tax.

But Andersen, whose one-year deal is worth $998,398, has replaced Camby's shot-blocking and defensive disruption while adding a healthy dollop of exuberance that has made him a fan favorite.

Bad-Thoma- "In game one he was second on the team in +/-, in games 2 and 3 he lead the team, game 4 was his first bad +/- game."
For the record, these numbers don't mean anything. They have too much noise and bias. That is a mathametical fact.

On another note, another nice option we have now is a trade. Teams are trying to cut salary for 2010 and in general, and we have ~9 mil in expirings (Scal + House + T. Allen (not counting R. Allen)). If the Celts are willing to commit money that should land a good reserve wing or F/C.

I would be absolutely THRILLED if we got Birdboy...the guy is just simply AMAZING...I love his defense...his shot blocking, his hustle...I think he is the PERFECT back up for this team..I'm all for signing him...I would love having him, Baby and Powe next year...

If Danny makes the right moves, boy oh boy we are going to give this league HELL next season...if we managed to get Artest to back P up...wow...the perfect 1-2 punch to throw at LeBron in the playoffs..PERFECT...hopefully we get some good things man...I would be really dissapointed if we didn't end up with at least one of Sheed, McD, Birdamn or Marion....is that asking for too much??
WHAT THEY GON’ SAY NOW? ‎ THANK YOU TRUTH!

What about Brandon Bass? incase we could not keep Powe, I would try to get him, similar type of player with same body type and a little better shooter from 15-16 feet, dont know if dallas will offer him a contract or how much he will make.¨

BTW, if I had to choose I would sign rasheed and if not maybe drew gooden, he could play the 3,4,5 spots easily or keep mikki moore because he will cost the celtics almost nothing, I don't want antonio mcdyess he's the same as joe smith, hate both charachters, they look like cleveland type of players, don't like them both. And if marbury can't stay then bring iverson.

Return to Boston Celtics
