Derek Fisher's Napoleon complex
Is it just me or does Derek Fisher feel he has to make his presence felt at times when ti would just be better to pass the ball run the break and make a pass or just stay with his man instead of doubling. Is he not aware of his own limitations????????

Re: Derek Fisher's Napoleon complex
Oh i get it now.. He meant Napoleon Dynamite.. U got me there for a second lol.
Well to be truthful.. i do notice him just running up the court and go for a quick jump shot.. I think it's more of a confidence kind of thing rather than "im here.. fear me." kinda thing. He's been around the league so long and he knows what he's capable of. Now if sasha does that.. i twitch a little because sometimes he just rush it too much.. lol
but to really find out if he's shot selection is a good one or not.. We have to look at every shot he makes while running up the court and doing a quick shot (make or miss); i doubt anyone has the time in their life to do that Lol.

I agree that he forces it at times, especially late in games. But I think that his aggressive mindset in those moments is contagious and ultimately helps the team stay assertive and confident — hit or miss, poor decision or not.

Re: Derek Fisher's Napoleon complex
Napoleon complex at 6 foot 200+ pounds?
even relatively speaking, it ain't about the size (these guys are all six feet or under: Chris Paul, Mike Conley Jr, TJ Ford, Raymond Felton, Iverson, Nate Robinson, CJ Watson, etc.)
it's about skills.
Fisher isn't a short point guard, he's a short shooting guard.
His inadequacies have more to do with the lack of quickness than size or mental deficiency. The guy is just not quick enough to get by anybody, and he never had the jumping ability nor the skills to finish around the basket.
But to his credit, he's been a quality 3-point shooter who has hit big shots in his career, and on defense, he tries to compensate somewhat by drawing more charges than most point guards.
There're just inherent inadequacies to his game, due to lack of skills, advanced age, and style of play.
But he's a great team guy, a great leader, and he can still help us a lot. Just perhaps not as our main point guard.

Re: Derek Fisher's Napoleon complex
I don't think it is based on his size he just wants to assert himself as a leader and a valuable contributor. If he doesn't initiate those shots for himself he will just fade behind all the other superior talent and be forgotten.

Re: Derek Fisher's Napoleon complex
I dont have a problem with his transition pullup jumpers. Its his kamikaze forays into the paint that drive me crazy, especially when he passes up a jumpshot (his strength) to do it. Fisher drives to the rim will result in one of two things. 1. A careening layup attempt that hits the bottom of the rim or the top of the backboard, or 2. A bailout foul.

Re: Derek Fisher's Napoleon complex
I don't mind him taking a transition jumper because 8/10 times he'll make it but he shouldn't be doing it while being contested. No matter how good a shooter you are thats a low % shot.
