Official coaching search thread...

Post#1 » by Smills91 » Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:54 am

just saw individual threads for certain coaches. I thought we could bring it all together for the coaching search.

Eddie Jordan
Paul Westphal
Ettora Messina
Jeff Ruland

I think lead the short list of strong candidates

I kinda think Byron Scott may be available here in a couple days as the NUGGETS are just making the Hornets look silly. And if that indeed happens, I see him being the Kings next head coach with his tract record and previous ties and desire to come to Sacramento.

Byron Scott easily becomes my #1 choice if he does indeed become available.

I do like the idea of Ettore Messina, but it has a lot of risks, if Byron Scott becomes available, then go for it, else, Messina would be great choice.

yeah obviously if B Scott gets released, he becomes the consensus coach for the Job. The guy wins where ever he goes. But at least those teams had potential. We have nothing

Can we please get a PROVEN coach with some NBA experience? I'm sick of these experiments like Musslewhatever and Theus. Ettore Messina is an euro coach, which is a bit different from the NBA. He might work out, but it's a huge risk, and one we might not be able to afford. What we need most right now is STABILITY.

Eddie Jordan is my choice, and if Byron Scott is released, then he would be first choice.

Has anyone mentioned Terry Porter yet?

I'm still a fan of Porter, but I don't think he has a shot again for AT LEAST a couple years as a HC. He has to rebuild up his resume.

BC
EJ
PW

those would be my top 3 in that order.

Byron Scott, first choice, no question.

Eddie Jordan probably second.

Then Paul Westphal, Terry Porter, Ettora Messina... on-and-on, down to Shorty Only-a-Name.

Bro im talking about and comparing teams that Byron Scott inherited. Nets he had Kidd/RJ then he got Martin Kidd and RJ where prime time players.

NO he got Paul West Chandler that equals a big three

Who do we have here?? Beno/Kmart/Hawes??? Garcia/Kmart/Hawes??? Kmart/JT/Hawes???

Give me a break. My point WAS smills....that each team Byron went to, he was able to win. And he wont be able to win here. So us kings fans shouldnt expect him to really turns things around if in fact he is available

Those guys that you mentioned are no slouches I'm tired of people underestimating the talent on this roster based on the fact we only won 17 games. It's not all the players fault that we've had dead beat coaches for the last 3 years. This team is fully capable of surpassing that 38 win total of a year ago and can compete for a playoff spot next year with proper draft selections and moves in free agency. This is not a reclamation project we have a good team with good players we need the right direction and a good coach like Scott Jordan, cheeks etc can get us headed where we need to be. Stop the Doom and Gloom crap it gets old quickly.

Martin/Thompson/Hawes? That's not a nice nucleus? Potentially adding Griffin/Rubio. That's a sweet deal for a coach to walk into. Low expectations(develop the youth), young talent(that can grow), favorable cap situation(on rookie deals).

I mean really, the Sacramento job at this point HAS GOT to be more appealing than the vast majority of openings currently available.

Avery Johnson is my #1, and byron scott would become number one if released.

Avery is just a big name. He's really overrated as a coach. Especially a coach with a roster full of youth. I see him as a terrible fit here.

Yuck. Get off his nuts. You overrate him more than Blazer fans overrated Oden.

Anyway, Scott would be the obvious choice but there is no way he gets fired a year after winning COY. I will gladly come back and admit I was wrong if I am but I see that VERY unlikely.

Jordan is my second choice. I'm not thrilled about him but he is the best fit at the moment.

Scott would be HUGE if he was fired. For one, he still has one more year on his contract, so we would get him at a cheaper price (always good for the Maloofs). Also, he has stated that because he retires, he would like to coach the Lakers and the Kings. The Lakers, because of his playing roots, and the Kings, because his coaching career basically started here (and his family loved the Sacramento community). I would much much rather have him than Jordan.

Hilarious. I think johnson is a leader, and that's what we need on this team. He tries to be defensive minded and has a point guard mentality, and that's what this team needs.

That is the point of having these threads, is to express opinions.

And perezident, will you just shut up. I would say shut up and talk about basketball, but you know nothing about basketball, so just stop. Maybe you can just read the boards for a while instead of posting. Do you feel me bro?
