What's with the rockets crowd?
I was watching the game 4 replay last night (in China), and I have to say I dont like the rockets crowd very much. In the 3rd quarter when the we were trailing, our crowd turned into some hush hush bystander, who seemed too much more frustrated than ready to cheer up for the team. I've heard of this before but come on this is the playoffs, everybody who is in there should standing with the team whole game long. Morey is good at hiring people, I am sure he can have something done to this, maybe gradually, but this HAS TO CHANGE. If the crowd can be a factor to the game, ours is at a very low level.

Nothing can be done, Houston just has a quiet crowd. Also doesn't help that theres quite a few empty seats.

ok you tell them. during halftime, grab a microphone stand in the middle of the court and tell the crowd "shout or go home"
its ok to break some rules once in a while...

yes but that's when the game is going well, or at least close. In the third the crowd really hurt my feelings

a lot of the people that sit in the lower seats are businessmen who bring clients to the games. the rest of the people are lazy white collar workers who get their life sucked out of them by sitting at their desk jobs all day. it gets loud in the upper sections though

that makes some sense... it takes a tough crowd to rough it up. the houston crowd is bit too sophisticated to enjoy the simple pleasure of sports i guess

I was disappointed in the crowd as well. Although, during that 4th qtr run they were pretty loud.
I live in Calgary and Rockets fans can learn a thing or two from Flames fans.
They do "Sea of Red" theme as well, except ALL the seats are filled and they are LOUD for the ENTIRE game.
Has got to be one of the loudest arenas in all of sports.

Re: What's with the rockets crowd?
We just have a horrible fan base....to be honest, you should see our games during the regular season (it's much worse). People really do not show as much interest until playoff time in which we still poorly represent our team. I went to both games on Friday and Sunday, and it was sad to see open seats all around.
I wish we were Dallas (do not hate me for saying this, but hear me out!!), because Cuban sells any open seats after a quarter or something for a discounted price, to at least attempt to make it look crowded.

Re: What's with the rockets crowd?
Thing is that a lot of Rockets fans do not live in Houston. As you can see from this board and clutchfans, that there are A LOT of Rockets fans. Most fans sit in the cheap seats and it IS loud there. Why bash the whole fan base? You mean the people at the game right?

Yeah you are right. I am living in L.A. but I rout for the Rockets...If Rockets won the first round series I am going to attend the first two games to cheer for the Rockets.

Remember 15 years ago the Mother's Day Massacre at the Summit? We lost a day game to the Suns and the players blamed the lack of crowd support. That series was the birth of the whole Choke City to Clutch City. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself IF we face the Lakers on May 10.

Not being a Rockets fan, I was wondering what the crowds would be like. I was able to attend both games last week, and I will say that Friday's game was much. much louder than Sunday's game. And both were louder than a regular season game.

You should see how uninterested the fans are during regular season game. I think its due to Houston being a football town.

Re: What's with the rockets crowd?
How come no one's talking about the crowd in Game 3? The crowd in Game 3 was nothing short of amazing.
In Game 4, our guys were trotting up and down the court. There was no energy, no intensity, and our players played with no effort. It was a frustrating game until the last few minutes where we picked up the pace and took control of the boards. Once things started to click, the crowd got back into the game. Sometimes the players need to step in and dictate the crowd. Then once the crowd gets started, players ride that momentum. Fans and players must reciprocate in order to maintain the flow of the game.
You can't expect the fans to cheer when your team is displaying a despicable effort. Fans have feelings too.

Yup I went to game 3 and it was LOUD. The "DEFENSE" chants were deafening, and at one point we were chanting "portland sucks". Its definitely louder in the upper sections though.
