Okur / Kirilenko Trade

Post#1 » by partnerfusion » Tue Apr 28, 2009 10:48 pm

How about Okur / Kirilenko for Brad Miller / Kirk Hinrich...

If i'm the Jazz I do it in a heartbeat and use Hinrich to both back up Williams and play some minutes at the 2. Miller is getting old but I like him in the Jazz system.

In the case of Chicago, Hinrich has become expendable but I'm still not sure they would be interested in this deal. They have been playing small ball somewhat and this wouldn't do much to change that.

Miller is the softest player in the NBA. Easy no from the Jazz.

Where the hell have you been? Miller is known for setting the toughest, hard nose screens in the league. Miller and Okur are about the same if you ask me, and with Koufos developing, the trade would essentially be Hinrich for Kirilenko. I would strongly consider such a deal if I was KOC & had this on the table, but I'm just another fan

He is also known for being the worst rebounding center in the nba, the worst defending center in the NBA, and one of the shorter centers in the NBA. Okur gives you everything Miller has and more, and Hinrich is a downgrade from AK.

Where do you get all this great insight from? Miller rebounds on par with Memo, so apparently we have one of the worst rebounding centers in the league. Everything Memo brings defensively, Miller would bring and he doesn't take BS, he'll knock people on their ass. I would much rather have Miller there mentoring Koufos, while Miller is servicable for 2-3 more years, and he has shown he can take a big under his wing the way he helped Hawes & Jason Thompson make the transition into the league. But going a bit outside your bubble, Hinrich has been a top 5 defensive guard for his whole career, and still plays with energy. Oh yeah, he played in 95% of his career games up until this year, while being a major contributor. I would take Hinrichw/ his cheaper deal and better intensity over AK anyday.

Okur certainly is not a good rebounder for a center--as a matter of fact of all the starting centers he is in the bottom 10 in rebounding per 48 minutes. Of the 87 ranked centers for rebounds per 48 minutes Okur was ranked 60th and Miller is 44th--behind such notables as Desagana Doip and Roy Hibbert.

Maybe it is just my severe dislike for Miller, but I really don't think he solves any of the problems for the Jazz.

What are their contracts like? That's what matters most. Also, it's not like you're trading Howard for Miller. I would consider the deal because I think Hinrich would work well in our system, he works his ass off. Not so hot on Miller, but we would get rid of AK's terribad contract.

Millers contract expires the summer of 2010. Kirk Hinrich's deal expires in 2012 but his salary declines each year.

This is a horrendous trade offer. Miller is on the decline big time. Hinrichs contract last longer than AKs. It doesnt make sense for any point of view.

I'd love to get Hinrich, not for Okur though.

AK for Hinrich and change? ok.

I don't know why anybody hasn't mentioned this but Ben Gordon is an unrestricted free agent and he is everything the Jazz are lacking at the SG position. He can create his own shot and would require his defender to actually put a body on him. More importantly, he can shoot.

The Jazz have a team full of players playing out of their position. Our shooting guards can't shoot, Brewer and Korver were awful in the playoffs. Our starting center doesn't play like a big and our over-sized small forward (Millsap) is our hardest worker on the offensive glass and blocking shots.

If I'm the Jazz I hope Okur and Korver opt out, Harpring retires, and we get rid of Brevin Knight. Find a team to trade AK to even if it's for an over priced expiring. Granted i don't know exactly how the salary cap is going to play out

But seriously, Ben Gordon guys; the Jazz should make it happen.

On another note I don't know what Denver's financial situation is but Birdman in also an unrestricted free agent this summer and would put some attitude into Utah's front line if we can grab him.

Thoughts?

Okur has to stay!!!! Boozer has to go!!!! Okur plays some and has said he considers Utah his 2nd home. He wants to be here!! Boozer wants to go where the money is. If he doesnt opt out then trade Loozer for a center like Chandler.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Another reason this trade sucks. The bulls have a cheaper and possibly better version of AK in Tyrus Thomas.
