John Wall in the 2009 draft?

Post#1 » by Durantist » Thu Apr 23, 2009 4:35 am

Word is that John Wall is trying to make himself eligible for the upcoming 2009 draft. If the league allows him to enter the draft, could we be seeing another 2005 draft repeat.
05 draft:
1.Bogut (dominated the paint in college)
2.Marvin Williams (strictly on potential)
3 Deron Williams (Point Guard)
4.Chris Paul (Point Guard)
5.Raymond Felton (Point Guard)
09 draft:
1.Griffin (dominated the paint in college)
2.DeRozan (strictly potential)
3.John Wall (Point Guard)
4.Ricky Rubio (Point Guard)
5.Brandon Jennings (Point Guard)
If this were the case then the 09 draft is going to turn out pretty darn Stacked!

He said no to the press during the Jordan Brand Classic last week because he isn't 100% sure about the situation, and he hasn't sat down and discussed it with his parents. "IF" eligible, there will be no doubt that he and and his parents would certainly decide to enter the NBA draft. He is predicted to be a top 3 pick if he were to enter this year. It all make sense for John Wall to enter "IF" eligible. We'll find out by April 26.

He said that he was going to college and that the NBA draft isn't on his mind. Made it sound like it was his dad's dying wish for him to go to college. I hardly think he'd speak that strongly of it if he wasn't fairly committed to that decision.

It appears Wall is out until next year, but I was also thinking about the comparison between this draft and 2005. Could Griffin become another Bogut-like big whereas Rubio becomes a future HOF point guard who is drafted after him? Hmm.
