Who are we drafting with our second round pick

Post#1 » by sox839 » Tue Apr 28, 2009 9:50 pm

Danny ainge knows how to draft so every pick is valuable. He finds guys that have a skill which can help the team. Who will he pick? I really like Jon Brockman. With the Loss of Leon, Brockman would be my pick after him Curtis Jerrells from baylor, any big with some skill even if he is a one dimensional player.

Kinda hard to find someone with the 58th pick and even harder to project who will be there. That said, Taj Gibson.

I think it's wrong to assume that we will only have 1 late second round pick this year. Danny has bought picks in the last few drafts, and in the current economy, there are even more teams looking to save money, so I believe the door will be wide open for Danny to do a trade or buy another pick.

Danny has proven he can find value and accumulate assets in the draft, and I believe he will look to steal someone again this year.

We will have a pick before our late second rounder. Count on it.

Yea. Danny's definitely trading up into this baby, especially since owners will be begging gm's to sell picks. The draft isn't great though. I do see a decent amount of role players.

A long shot, but I think Ainge will end up trying to trade into the late first round. There was a report some time ago that it's believed that you might see some teams attempt to trade out of the first round. And the addition of Rubio in this year's draft could push some good talent down to the lower half of the first round. Hence, why Ainge could be intrigued by that prospect.

I hope Danny trades up for Hansborough at the end of the first. Dude is going to be a great role player in the NBA. Perfect fit for a team like ours.

Of course were enjoying these playoffs but be sure that we as fans should look toward the draft. I'm curious to see how far we can go without KG or if he comes back can we get back to the finals. As for the draft and with all the Tony Allen talk we need to let him go he is way overrated and has embarassed the organization more times than not. Doc has put him out there to play ben gordon and tony hasn't been successful. As for the draft I like the blog idea of tyrese rice also another guy who could be available at our 2nd rounder is micah downs who is known for his defense but doesn't have much offense.

The roster is going to play into what we do with the draft. Boston has 11 players under contract (House on a player option), two restricted FA's in Baby and Powe who are likely to be back. So we have 2 open rosters spots barring a trade, releasing Pruitt, House opting out, or letting Powe or Baby go. I think that this team needs to either bring back Marbury or replace him TA and House is not a back up plan at the PG. Hopefully this team looks hard at adding some size in FA. On top of that there is Semih Erden, who is certainly big and supposed to be "our 2009 1st round draft pick" per the guru himself.

So the roster is set up to not have a 1st round draft pick and we can't really add more than one rookie to this roster unless we clear out one of the guys already sitting in the 13-15 spots on the roster. Adding a first rounder without clearing a contract would not seem to make sense on its own. Moving up in the 2nd round is always a possibility.
