Wages of Wins: Love ROY over "average" Rose

In sum, all these numbers tell us that Rose was essentially little better than an average player in 2008-09. And this is because he really didn’t do anything exceptionally well.

...

So why was he named Rookie of the Year?

The key issue is point score per game. Rose had the second highest scoring average among rookies. And since the leading scorer - O.J. Mayo - played on a losing team (and was also drafted after Rose), we should not be surprised that most of the media focused on the point guard from Chicago.

Should it have been Love?

No, I don't care what that says, Rose is a stud and the ROY and I can see it with my own eyes.

Rose benefitted from Lake Michigan bias. Typical ESPN, AP, media being all over the nuts of anyone who drinks from tht piss-filled cesspool of a lake.

This is an example of a flaw in a statistic.

Though I think Love should have finished higher in the ROY voting, Rose was without question the ROY.

Wages of Wins wrote: In our book we discuss voting for the All-Rookie teams, which is done by the coaches. We report that a simple model — with points scored as the sole measure of performance — explained 76% of the variation in the coaches’ voting. Adding all the other box score statistics to the model only boosted explanatory power to 77%.

what happened to the thread of transcripts of the IM chats between casey and mnwi, that was so hawt, I was forever printing those out and hiding them under my mattress so my mom wouldn't find them. Which would be an incredible feat considering she lives in nyc and I live in mpls, but better safe than sorry.

After college when I permanently moved out of my parents house I left a good chunk of crap at their house with the promise to come pick it up. Well afetr a couple months of it sitting their, my mom got sick of it, packed it up herself and dumped it at my apartment. Yeah, she found my "stash" in the process. DAMNIT!

that doesn't qualify as stash because there's no reason to hide it. You want stash? I can show you stash. You would not believe the stuff I've stashed, OH MAN!!! the things I've stashed...
