Farmar's future?

If he doesn't pick up his play and get more pt do you guys think he will stay? I wouldn't have asked but I saw there was an Ammo future thread so I figured we were aloud to talk nonplayoffs as well as playoffs.
I would think that if he is a third pg or not gonna start soon somebody will offer him big money (meaning 30 million) to be there starting pg.
I figured he was gonna be starting by now but something happened to him.

$30mm for Farmar, lmao. Not even in a boom cycle, let alone this economy, buddy.

Regardless of whether we keep Shannon, I will be dissapointed if Farmar is kept around.

I will be dissapointed to. I think 30 million is the full midlevel or it's close to 30 million.
PG's are like C's and they usually get paid alot. He could be paid on potential.

I would be really upset if he left because I truley believe he will still turn into a good starter. Some pg's it takes them a while to fully get it. Nash spent about 5 years being a backup then he became a star and then eventually mvp. It took a whie.
It happens. It's the hardest position to learn and on top of that in the triangle he is asked to do pg things which probably is an adjustment if you been playing pg your whole life.

Farmar is a fan favorite of mine but I also think in a couple of years when Kobe and Gasol Odom are starting to get old Farmar and Bynum will be our young guys that keep us going and help us rebuild while winning.

Brown is easy replaceable but Farmar isn't.

That was Sahnon Brown, Farmar might play for team Disney with his dumbo ears flying over never never land while awaiting for his next shot at the NBA title since I doubt after this season he will ever play for the Lakers...................... :lol:

1. Retained in the case of a sudden Fisher retirement.
2. Traded for a pick to a team with cap room or an exception which will save a cool 4m for Buss.
3. Used as a part of a Morrison+Farmar package to either save money or acquire a player to replace one we could possibly lose in free agency.

At this point #2, looks most likely.

Actually #1 looks most likely because he's relatively inexpensive and making trades is not easy. I'd certainly root for 2 or 3 if it means Shannon B can be retained though.

I wonder if the Bucks would do Farmar and Morrison for Gadzuric+1st rounder. Probably wouldn't do it unless they line up another deal where they dump Redd's or Jefferson's contract, but I think its something they would at least consider.

Imagine getting a guy like Stephen Curry in the draft who could step in and start right away, and be a big part of our future. You could even get a guy like Jrue Holiday later in the draft. Or even Nick Calathes if the Lakers don't trade up. There are some good point guard prospects in this draft and I think most of them would be upgrades over Farmar.

^ Creative concept - maybe offer up a Swap of 1st's so Mil doesn't feel totally burned. Lakers move up 20 slots basically. \\ That 7.2 mil in 2010-11 hurts though.

OK, girls. Calm down.

Farmar might not have been stellar recently, and I've always said he belongs on another team but let's get one thing straight, he's not suddenly total trash. Shannon has simply outplayed him. Isn't Farmar slightly injured right now, as well?

Farmar is not my kind of PG, but a perfect fit for D'Antoni's offense. Farmar, Sasha and Morrison for re-signed Lee, shooter and pick? New Jersey could use Jordan as second string PG, as could many other teams. Some would probably start him.

Wouldn't surprise me if he kicks arse against Brooks or Blake in the next round.

He would definately fit in with the Knicks, he needs to run and gun. He can't be held down and play with discipline in the triangle. The best word to describe Farma is rambunctious.

if fisher retires then definitely he'll have a future with the lakers... but if not then i don't see him staying. Phil hasn't be quite happy with them this post season. He's barely getting scrappy minutes....
That's a sign that some change could be brewing up hehe. But shannon has been awesome for us thus far.....

I can't believe how much he has fallen in your opinions.

Some points-

1.First off Jrue Holiday is pretty far away from being a rotation player. Farmar is way ahead

2.Stpehen Curry is going to the Knicks unless they get the first pick to ensure Lebron

3.Farmar is hurt right now but he can play for sure. He will be a good starting pg or very good backup

4.Shannon Brown has been playing well for weeks. What if he has a few bad games? You want to trade him for a 20th pick pg in a weak draft who might not even cut it? Well actually that is about his right worth unlike Farmar. I like Brown but your not getting more then that for him.

5.Farmar is a real pg. He can handle the ball. Brown can't.

You guys are jumping off the Farmar boat way to fast here.

for your #4, his play the last few weeks has been better than farmar for the entire year. and i'm sure he's had a couple of bad games throw in there, while farmar has mostly bad games with a few good ones sprinkled in

and why are you talking about brown's trade value, we're not moving him.

for #5, if that were true than brown wouldn't be getting these minutes and farmar wouldn't be on the bench and we wouldn't be having this conversation

#5 is absolutely correct. Even Doug Collins said he is no pg and can't really handle the ball but in the triangle offense he can do things for the lakers.
Shannon Brown is not a pg just because the Lakers put him there. He played sg in hs college for all the pro teams.
If it wasn't for the triangle and Kobe nobody would play him at the point.

The only thing that is really cool about him is as long as we have Kobe and play the triangle with all the good passers he fits like a glove with his speed and 3's plus he can defend the Rose's and DWilliams and the Kidd's basically all the big pg's and he can defend his position which is sg even though he is 6'3.

We need to keep Farmar as our future pg. He was primed to take over that position since his rookie year and that shouldn't stop now, espially not for Brown.

Don't get me wrong right going into the Rockets series and the Nuggs I want Brown as the backup and not Farmar but long term Farmar is better as a pg.
