Boozer: I want to be in Utah
I find it interesting, as well as revealing, that Carlos Boozer can come out and make such a dramatic statement about his intentions and desires to be here, and yet there is no thread dedicated to it an hardly anyone is talking about it.
I don't know what it is about Carlos that he has earned so much derision and ill-will from Jazz fans. I admit that he was horrid after coming back from the injury, particularly on defense where he was as bad a player on that end as any other player in the league. But its an injury issue. You can't fault his work ethic, his love of the game, or his commitment to getting better. He was hurt. No one killed Deron for not being able to play at his typical level after coming back from injury, and he was getting killed defensively even worse than Carlos (anyone remember the 47 point detonation that Devin Harris leveled on him?).
Part of the problem--according to some--is Boozer's refusal to make any strong statements about his commitment to being here, feeling somehow that he is taking a mercenary approach to being with the Jazz.
Well, now he's done everything you could ask. But no one is even talking about it.
I am a little confused.
Carlos is not a perfect player, not by a long shot. But he is a big part of the success we've had as a team here. He had a tough season, admittedly, but he picked it up big time in the playoffs. I think he is still part of the solution here.

I've never disagreed more with anything I've read on these forums. That is my beef with Booz, you can tell by his body language that he just doesn't care defensively.

I agree and would like to see him return, but it sounds like Deron is throwing his weight behind Millsap. Millsap is not the answer unless our young centers develop or we get a big man for the middle. He is just too short.

You can live with Millsap as your PF with Memo if Jazz get more scoring from SG and have AK-47 play hard all the time. Kosta becomes back up center. I say trade Boozer and Brewer for a top notch SG and fire Sloan and Jazz are contenders.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I haven't heard anything about Dwill throwing anything behind Millsap? Link?

Boozer got all this crap for his turnover in game 2 yet DW gets nothing after his missed layup in game 5, or his 7 TO's in game 2. Ok well DW may have gotten a little scrap for that on this board, but not as much as Boozer. I read the SLTrib and Deseret News every day and the people that post there nag on Boozer everyday. Dude can't catch a break. Boozer was the MVP of the playoffs for us.

Re: Boozer: I want to be in Utah
Boozer it's a great great player.
The problem it's him and Okur are weak in deffense. I will let go Millsap if we can add a deffensive Center. Then a rotation of those 3 men, with Koufos would be an upgrade for us.
Millsap it's not the answer.

If we trade Kirlenko we trade Harp for Desagana Diop...
Okur-Boozer-Millsap-Diop should be good...
The big team have 4 good palyers near the basket..
I'm an Italian Jazz fan...

This guy is a joke. I don't know why I ever attempted to defend the whole Cleveland fiasco. He's the definition of sketch. Two faced bastard, I can't wait to see him defile someone elses uniforms. PEACE BOOZ
Carlos Boozer will likely opt out of his contract, despite his recent PR recovery attempt in which he has continually stated his desire to remain with Utah.
“I don’t think so," said Boozer when asked if there is any chance of playing out his current contract. "Obviously, I’m gonna talk to them (the Jazz), talk to my agent. I’m sure I’ll be talking to you guys again soon, but I don’t think so.”

Interesting, I wonder if his agent was getting some signals from other teams, because otherwise, I doubt if he could get a larger contract with the season he just played.

I'm not gonna miss him should he leave. I'll be pretty PO'd if we hand him a big contract. Just too injury prone for my liking.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I dont' think I could have said it better myself. I couldn't believe they let Boozer out of his Cav's contact to give him more money in the first place, and then he stabbed them in the back for cash after saying how much he loved the team. It would be no different for the Jazz either, he is only looking out for his interests. Even in Utah he took a year or so paid time off to recover from his injuries on the Jazz's dime (really, it takes that long to recover?) and the guy plays very little defense. If he says he is staying, he means he's leaving and just wants to screw the Jazz over instead of just being up front with them. Its a shame the Jazz didn't trade him for something in return.
the Jazz will be better off without him.

If I thought I could believe ANYTHING that he says.
If I thought there was even a slim chance that he might start playing defense.
If I thought there was even a remote chance that he might make it through a season without milking an injury.
If I thought it possible that he might not disappear in the playoffs.
I would want him to stay.

Re: Boozer: I want to be in Utah
What's the real scoop on Boozer's defense? One on one, he certainly outplayed Gasol in the series. In fact, he nearly always outscored his opposite number. The problem people seem to have with Booze's defense is that he doesn't cover everybody else's man as well as his own. Why is every other defender on the team responsible for just their own man ... and not even that when they are screened ... but Boozer is responsible for defending everybody? Just curious.
