Blow up the roster

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Sat May 2, 2009 1:33 am

Man. Our team....is horrible. Our offensive philosphy, our intensity. Our lack of depth. Our coaching. Our collection of players. They blew up our last playoff team 10 years ago because we had no chance at a title. What do we have to show for it? This series is impossibly awful to watch.

:x

JSmoove is an enigma. Simultaneously brilliant and mind numbingly awful. He is not a franchise player. He is not an offensive threat. He doesn't rebound enough. He has horrific defensive lapses. He can't shoot. He can't post up. He isn't strong/big enough to guard 4s one-on-one. He isn't quick enough to guard 3s. He's not a good basketball player.

Marvin is decent. Not bad. Not great. He is Shareef Abdur Rahim, reincarnated.

Joe needs help. He is an all star talent. No question. One of the best all around talents in the league. But he is not a superstar.

Horford is a load. Big and strong and consistent. But he is not a center. He needs to develop a post game. He needs to play with......A REAL CENTER.

The lack of offensive weapons on our team is alarming. Joe has struggled this series, because he has no help in the half court. Bibby and JJ do not an offense make. How many different guys have dropped 30+ points in that CHI/BOS series. Remember, KG and Luol Deng arent even playing. (I kinda wish WE had traded for Brad Miller and John Salmons this year. )

We need a center. And a point guard. And additional offensive players. And a new offense scheme.
This team is an embarassment. I watch the CHI-BOS series and see some great basketball being played. Big shot after big shot. Loads of offensive talent on both teams. What ATL and MIA are playing isnt even basketball.

Its hopeless dude. Whether we lose this series or get swept by CLE, our team is very bad, man.

I'm a Raptors fan and to be honest I love JSmith's game, at least on the highlights, but he is the guy I'd be looking to move. IMO you should be building around Horford as a PF and JJ. You're cool with Marvin at the 3, but you should try and trade Josh for a PG or C.

The highlights only tell half the tale. But you are right. Hofrod is our future at 4, and Smoove is the most attractive piece to get us a center.

This is a panic thread but I will repeat what I said after game four. I like Joe...I just don't like him as a clear cut number one option. I think Joe is probably the 3rd worst scorer of all the number one options in the playoffs behind Iguodala and whoever Detroit considers as their 1st option. I also think whoever our 2nd option is(Smith or Bibby)would rank pretty low among playoff teams as well. I think we need to pair Joe with someone who can allow him to fall into a role where he doesn't have to run countless isolation plays for him and he doesn't have to face as much defensive attention. I think the Hawks just have to make a play at Bosh or Amare if those two are available.

It's so obvious, Hoops.

Joe should be getting the ball in a position to shoot, not create. Get a legit post scorer on this team, and Joe would average 25/game on good efficiency.

I wouldnt call it a panic thread. This whole series Ive been thinking it. We definitely need some balance on offense. I hate that we let billups get outta the east w/o making a play.

A big man with post game and another swing scorer are a must if we are to have a chance at legitimitacy.

Getting a real coach should be the first order of business.

I think this has all crossed our minds at some point
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

calm down, it was a road game, without your starting center and starting small forward.... it is not as bad as when Phily lost at home to a Dwightless Magic.

like i said before the playoffs started, i would rather have the Sixers, because we all know that Wade can go super man on anybody and any team.

As someone who had season tickets during the 13-69 season, don't be so quick to call for "blow up the roster."

Before the series started a lot of fans predicted a 7 game series. No one probably foresaw the number of ugly blowout games, but we're at a game 7 which is what a lot of those people thought would happen anyway. Blow up the roster? Holy overreaction, Batman!

The point I was trying to make is that we are NOWHERE near as good as the contenders in the league. This series has shwon me just how awful we are. Our offense is wretched.

The last thing we need is more youth. We do need: More scorers. An actual center. Someone other than Flip and JJ to create their own shots. Post scoring.

lets blow up the roster so we can have another decade of not making the playoffs and being the joke of the league.

also its funny how you say the one thing this team needs is more scoring and you want to build around horford who has a horrible offensive game.
