Game of the Year: Heat @ Hawks Game 7!

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Sat May 2, 2009 2:58 am

DO OR DIE GAME 7
We were just blown out by the Heat, again. We need to avoid all negativity right now, thast why this thread is gonna be nothing but positivity until gametime. As for me I expect to win the game, but I know we could just as easily lose by 20. Personal request, for the sake of tontoz, me and others, I would like to ask Blazen to refrain from commenting.

Biggest, most important game for the Atlanta Hawks in quite some time. The arena needs to be defaning. GAME 7 B**CHES!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Im not religious at all but I will be doing alot of this

Play smart, play with intesnity, and dont lose you cool. This game is for us to take. Dont let the refs take it from you. Atlanta has shown you love this year and to repay all your faithful fans, you need to win this game!!

GO HAWKS!

Good pics. Good Thread. Stay positive.

If you don't have your tickets already, there are still good seats in most price ranges (I just checked).

link here

If you can make it I encourage you to do so. Don't rely on your fellow fans to make it loud. Each person who can has to bring their A game to Philips to keep the playoffs going.

I STILL BELIEVE!

LOL. I don't think most religious people's prayers have to do with the Hawks.

Anyone know off hand if the Hawks have hosted a game 7 at home before? If so when was the last time that happened? I'm too lazy to look it up.

This team just needs to sleep game six off and be focused for game seven.

On my way home from the movies, I heard on ESPN Radio late night say the Hawks are 2-8 all time in game #7s tied for worst all-time. So I looked it up.
Atlanta Seasons
2007-2008 Lost at Boston 65-99
1987-1988 Lost at Boston 116-118
1978-1979 Lost at Washington 94-100
St.Louis Seasons
1965-1966 Lost at Los Angeles 121-130
1963-1964 Lost at San Francisco 95-105
1962-1963 Lost at Los Angeles 100-115
1960-1961 Won vs Los Angelese 105-103
1959-1960 Won vs. Minneapolis 97-86
1959-1960 Lost at Boston 103-122
1956-1957 Lost at Boston 123-125 2OT

So in the history of the franchise we've won 2 game 7s at home, but both were so long ago that they happened in St. Louis and we've lost 8 game 7s on the road, with 5 of those happening in St. Louis. We've never lost a game 7 at home nor won a game 7 on the road. Current players are essentially 0-1 in game 7s in Atlanta (not researching Flip and Mo)

Miami is 2-2 in game 7s. All played at home. Current players Wade and Haslem are 1-1 in game 7s.
2004-2005 Lost vs. Detroit 82-88
2003-2004 Won vs. New Orleans 85-77
1999-2000 Lost vs. New York 82-83
1996-1997 Won vs. New York 101-90

And all this means absolutely nothing toward who wins on Sunday. Though it shows that game 7s are a rare treasure to behold, and that this (hosting) is the first for the city of Atlanta in basketball.

I'm excited about it, it's very likely I'll have no more nail to bite after this game, but I'm confident we'll win. It's vital that our team and crowd show up to the occasion up to the task. I really hope Al can play. GO HAWKS.
