#1 Pick Poll
There is a 7.8% chance that this question will be one of the biggest ones in Wolves history, so I wanted to do an early poll
If MIN gets the #1 pick ....?

Re: #1 Pick Poll
I remember reading about Rubio 2 years ago and he looks as good then as he is now (but I really want to see workouts before picking). If Rubio can't play till 2010, I would consider trading down (as long as the price was right). I would want to see what a team like OKC would be willing to offer. Still, I would be content if we had one of the best frontcourt lineups in the NBA with Al, Love, Pekovic, and Blake.

Re: #1 Pick Poll
I am the only one on the board who thinks we draft Griffin and keep all three of Al, Love and him. No one will convince me otherwise
But I'm also the one who thinks we don't need a defensive center. Peckovic is good enough for me.
Foye/Calathas/Telfair
Brewer/Harden or Derozan (kinda stuck between those two now)
Griffin/Gomes/Brewer
Love/Cookie
Jefferson/Pekovic
I'm fine with that. and that does not include the 2010 off-season (draft/free agents)

Given that I haven't seen Rubio play in a game, I voted to draft and keep Griffin. It's the lowest risk pick in the draft. I think we should acquire talent and worry about trading for position down the road. I'll take Tony Parker after Tim Duncan retires and the Spurs attempt to rebuild.

Re: #1 Pick Poll
I voted draft Rubio, assuming he's coming here for the 09-10 season.

Same here, unless you could move back a pick and still get Rubio (say, if OKC gets pick 2 - they give the Wolves a player to move up a spot.)
A lot of scenarios in play, actually. But I think the value of real point guards has gone up with the hand-checking rules. Rubio's my guy.

No you're not, but I guess you don't read posts on here. You are the only one who thinks Griffin will play the 3 though.

Re: #1 Pick Poll
I voted that way as well. There are 96 minutes to be covered at the PG and C positions each game. Players need rests, get injured, and have didfferent match-ups. I think we can find enough playing time for all three.
(Though me being me, if a massive trade offer came in for any of our three PFs, I'd certainly listen)

Re: #1 Pick Poll
If we took Griffin, any chance a team would consider a Love for Rubio trade? We could spice it with another draft pick if that's what it takes.
Maybe the Wiz? Love + Miller for Rubio + Thomas?
Maybe OKC? Love + 18 for Rubio?
Maybe Memphis? Love + 18 for Rubio?
Rubio/Telfair
Foye/(Miller or 18)
Brewer/Gomes
Griffin/Smith
Jefferson/(Thomas or Gortat? Eventually Pekovic)

Re: #1 Pick Poll
My brother thinks we would be unstoppable with Al. Love, Griffin, Craigers with spot minutes. He thinks we would be a post game powerhouse and no one could contend with us because we could ball in the and around the paint extremely well 4 deep.
I kind of like his way of thinking but right now I'd just take Rubio and fix the PG problem.

If we draft Griffin and keep him we'd have the best, deepest front court for a 30-win team in the history of the league.

I voted Rubio. If we can moved back and take him at 2 and get something for it, fine, but the important thing would be exiting with Ricky.

Re: #1 Pick Poll
Except that the wolves are not quite bad enough to have a decent chance at Wall next year. Even with Al hurt to start next year.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

You have to figure in Love's forthcoming knee injury though.

Depends on what we do with Cardinal and Miller. We can improve immediately or be patient. But trading down for Rubio seems awfully tempting considering he could join us a year later with Pekovic.

Re: #1 Pick Poll
I am starting to jump on the Rubio bandwagon. Why? Look at the teams in the playoffs. Most are run by very good point guards.
Denver - Chauncey Billups
New Orleans - Chris Paul
San Antonio - Tony Parker
Dallas - Jason Kidd
Utah - Deron Williams
Chicago - Derrick Rose
Boston - Rajon Rondo
Atlanta - Mike Bibby
Cleveland - Mo Williams
Nine of the sixteen teams have very good point guards. Even the other point guards left unnamed are still solid. Guys like Derek Fisher, Steve Blake, Aaron Brooks, Andre Miller, Rodney Stuckey.
I do not want to keep going with Sebastian freakin' Telfair as our starting point guard. Backup maybe, but not starter.
