Reggie vs. Ray

It's really all about when you hit clutch shots. Ray hasn't really, besides this year made big time clutch shots in the playoffs. Well i should say memorable shots. Reggie has more memorable moments, but honestly I think Allen is a better overall player, better handles, quicker, but Reggie will always be my #1.

I can't put Horry up there. He was never the first option for any of his teams. Defenses at the end of the game never gameplanned specifically for him. He was in the right place, at the right time, the stars of his teams found him, and he rarely disappointed. I just can't put a guy like that into my top clutch players of all-time.

Are those people forgetting how notoriously poor Ray Allen has played in the playoffs for most of his career (when he's actually made it to the playoffs)? Making a clutch 3-point shot here and there really means nothing when you completely disappear from your team for multiple games at a time. Ray Allen isn't as clutch as Reggie Miller, point blank PERIOD.

Both are clutch, but what Reggie did late in games was extraordinary. I mean heck he was what 36 years old almost near mid court, chucked up a three to send the game into overtime against the Nets one year in the playoffs? That was just the icing on the cake for one of the greatest clutch players of all time. Ray Allen's darn good, but let's see how he does when he leaves his prime, if he's still a late big game player. Reggie didn't miss a beat.

Plus with Pierce and Garnett on the team, he doesn't have much pressure on him anymore. Defenses can't pressure Garnett, Pierce, and Allen, and of the 3, Allen is the one to let go. With the Pacers, everyone knew Reggie was getting the ball, I mean, even when JO was a star, he was never considered clutch. With Allen, they know hes a threat, but also have Garnett and Pierce to worry about.

Since most of their clutch shots have been 3's, I think that it's fair to say that Reggie has had more moments like that. One over Jordan, one from half-court, a bunch for a 25-point quarter, and 8 points in 8.9 seconds. What has Ray done? In terms of clutch potential, Ray has a bunch, but he hasn't been t the playoffs enough. Ray hasn't been more clutch YET, but I don't think he'll EVER be.

Nah man, he's definitely lost a step. It would be much more obvious if he was still the #1 option on his team. Since he isn't, it gets masked a little better. I think even Ray would tell you he is no longer in his prime. That doesn't mean he's not effective though. Still a very good player, but not quite what he used to be.
