In the NBA, TPE's are good up to 1 year within their creation.

How we will determine that will be weird/up to Skorff.

Like in real life, if the Den/LAC trade happened July 20th, 2008. A 10 mil TPE would exist up til July 29th, 2009.

if that is the case, DEN may not have the TPE since that trade I am pretty sure happened before the draft giving Denver the 2nd rounder

The Camby trade happened on July 15th, 2008. Does anyone know todays date?

Pretty sure last year's draft was at the end of June so if Camby was traded in July the TPE should still be good for a bit longer.

2 - Milwaukee declines to extend a qualifying offer to Charlie Villanueva, making him an unrestriced free agent.
3 - Milwaukee renounces Bird rights to Shawn Marion, Marquis Daniels, Damon Jones, and Charlie Villanueva.
4 - Milwaukee extends a qualifying offer to Ramon Sessions, making him a restricted free agent.

As best I can figure from the Larry Coon FAQ, the QO to Sessions is $1,000,497 (the greater of his minimum salary + 175,000 or 125% of his previous salary) and his cap hold is the maximum he can be signed for under Early Bird rights, which would be the average salary or $5,847,894. Can Skorff or anyone confirm I figured that correctly?

is Ersan Ilyasova being renounced as well? he has a cap hold also.

due to all of the complaints and the likely hood that the Detroit/Denver deal will get vetoed and Detroit will not receive these picks and this trade will be void, Minnesota is withdrawling accepence. Minnesota and Detroit will work something out once the Detroit/Denver deal gets finalized

yes but the TPE was created using the 2009 salary it just carried over into this offseason

Actually, as soon as salaries switch the TPEs disappear.

I don't think so. They are suppose to last one calendar year from the date of the trade.

New York and Dallas have a deal to announce

New York Sends
2009 #15

Dallas Sends
2009 pick # 24
2010 Detroit 2nd
2012 Atlanta 2nd
2009 IND 2nd (#43)
2009 CLE 2nd (#60)
2012 MIA 1st

The guy I was expecting to be there at #15 is gone, the other guy we were targeting is expected to be there at 24, thats why im making the deal. Also Jamal Magloire was included in the deal that we agreed on but hes expired so guess it was an accident on my part that i didnt notice it.

Accept, I just wanted a top 15 pick and assurance that I get my guy, the other assets are complete useless for me as I dont have any need for them since my team is set, arguably, that 15th is still liek a lottery pick and I can be comfortable since I have 16 guys listed on my wishlist, that assures me getting one of them, bah.

Nuggets trade/Pistons receive:
Steven Hunter $3,696,000
2009 second round draft pick from Oklahoma City
2009 2nd round draft pick from Washington
2010 Charlotte 1st (top 12 protected in 2010, top 10 protected in 2011, top 8 protected in 2012, top 3 protected in 2013, and unprotected in the 2014 NBA Draft).
*using $10,000,000 TE from the Marcus Camby trade

$10,000,000+$3,696,000=$13,696,000

Pistons trade/Nuggets recieve:
Jason Richardson $13,333,332

It hurts not to have any draft picks now for this year, and only a second rounder next year, but getting Richardson pushes our team over the top, and makes us a legitimate contender. We still have a couple of TE's left and will use them to try and get picks if possible, but the Nuggets now have everything in place to win a championship.

Trade not approved
As was stated, you cannot combine TPE and players.

You can't combine TPEs and players.

Ok this is tricky but we do this instead then.
1st part:
TPE (10 mill Camby)
2009 second round draft pick from Oklahoma City
2009 2nd round draft pick from Washington
2010 Charlotte 1st (top 12 protected in 2010, top 10 protected in 2011, top 8 protected in 2012, top 3 protected in 2013, and unprotected in the 2014 NBA Draft).
for
Al Harrington

Part 2.
Harrington comes back to DET with Hunter for JRich.

Ends up being the same deal but its legal. This works right?

-Trade approved; there was a veto request because the trade went against the spirit of the CBA but I had let another trade like this go through previously so I will allow this one now
-Also, from now on a player cannot be traded twice in the same transaction; we have had that rule in the past and I am going to start to enforce it
-Why the trade works
Camby's exception is 10,000,000 (his 2008-2009 salary) and 10,000,000 + 100,000 = 10,100,000 is large to absorb Harrington's 2009-2010 salary of $10,026,875
In a non-simultaneous trade, a team can only acquire up to 100% plus $100,000 of the salary it gives up (as opposed to 125% plus $100,000 in a simultaneous trade).

TPE are good for a year, and I'm not sure of the exact date that Camby was traded but I'm pretty positive it was after the draft.
A non-simultaneous trade may take up to a year to complete. Non-simultaneous trades are described in question number 69.

Since the other trade was approved, Minnesota will still honor this deal with Detroit. Not sure if Detroit will need to reapprove or not, but I am willing to honor our deal
