he seems to handle it ok when i've seen him, and if he's good for the triangle whats the problem

and farmar has been given plenty of time to step up and claim the pg of the future spot but he hasn't done it, so i doubt giving him more time is going to change anything. i think it is time to move on

we have a guy who

I'm not so sure Farmar has a future with this team anymore

Sorry to say but no player who's seen 0 mins of court action in a playoff game can dream of returning to the team. Just means he's got absolutely nothing to offer for the coach or the system. The only other reason could be a phantom injury that hasn't been diagnosed/reported.

The problem with Farmar is that he doesn't have great chemistry with Kobe. Kobe plays better with athletic players like Ariza and Brown.

Farmar probably fits in a pick n roll gunning system better.

Plus, he can't guard good pg like Deron or CP3. Brown and Fisher does a better job on defense.

Farmar is as good as trade bait. It's a shame his stock is at an all time low, but a smart team should go after him. He definitely needs to be traded for a small forward to play in tandem with Ariza. Then I hope we re-sign Brown and draft a speedy pg cause there will be some available in the draft (Patty Mills, Collison).

farmar's ceiling has probably always been 1st PG off the bench for most teams

just not one running a non-PG dependent offensive system

itd be interesting if we need farmar to defend brooks this series if either fisher or brown gets into early foul trouble

I doubt we trade for a SF when we already have glass-ankle Luke and Ammo eating up $10 million of our salary cap.

I think when you look at where Farmar was drafted, he's playing at about the level you'd expect. I'd be fine with trading him for a mid to late first round pick and drafting that speedy pg you talk about. I'm not sure which teams are under the salary cap though. This just doesn't seem like the right system for him.

The knock on Farmar coming out of college was that he needed to limit his turnovers and make smarter decisions. He hasn't improved in that regard at all, which is kind of surprising when you consider Kobe, Pau and LO do most of the decision making on this team. In fact he's even regressed. He doesn't know how to just make the simple play. And that is the biggest difference between he and Shannon Brown, who is almost always under control and plays within his skillset. Not to mention they are on opposite ends of the spectrum defensively.

I know the guy is injured so I don't mean to kick him while he's down, but really what has he done as a Laker? He had one decent season that only raised eyebrows because it meant he had potential to be more than a good bench player. But he has gone back to his rookie form. In a limited role behind Fisher and Brown, I can accept him as an insurance policy. But he's clearly not a major part of our rotation anymore. I hope he proves me wrong.

Well I think Farmar is super athletic but he doesn't seem to use it like Brown and Ariza. He does have a 40 plus verticle.

I like him as a starting pg but don't think he is good in spot minutes.

Listening to arguements maybe Brown is the guy over Farmar although I will say if this was a regular team meaning no triangle and no Kobe I would like Farmar better.
For us though Brown is the perfect backup for FIsher.
