We are underdogs. People hate us.

Post#1 » by Dirty Water » Sun May 3, 2009 6:58 pm

Let's take on the bad guys role. We are the Boston Celtics.

It just doesn't get any better than this, imo. Rondo is tossing players into the front row and getting away with it. People just can't stand seeing KG yelling at people in street clothes. Big Baby is playin out of his mind (You know if you are playing against Big Baby from the other team perspective you just hate him. I felt this way for Joakim Noah.) Eddie House showing up the Bulls bench - I just love it all. With KG out indefinitely, winning from here on out is a bonus. A bonus that feels good because people will just hate on us more. Anything from here on out is gravy baby. I recently made a comment about the Cs on facebook and someone asked if there was a "dislike" option

Let's stop pretending we are the good guys. Roll with it, because when we win it's that much sweeter.

I think people are just jealous of boston area sports in general, especially the Patriots. They'll find any negative they can and roll with it. Spygate anyone?

I am getting used to and enjoying people hating us. The funny thing is that there is no one we really hate. I mean historically speaking it is the lakers but I dont really hate this incarnation that much more than any other team. There is no team we just hate because we are that team. We run on pure rage and venom.

Underdogs in the finals? You were one of the most overhyped teams I've seen in years  ... Lakers also did not have Bynum (who I feel is INCREDIBLY over hyped, but still a deciding factor.) You guys should be thanking David Stern for that championship...

The deciding factor in the upcoming Orlando series is Dwight Howard, you don't have much to contain him. However, if he doesn't beast - I don't see this series even being competitive, Boston could possibly even sweep.

If people are hating that means you doing something right.

Yes, Stern won the finals for us. You are a genius my friend! Oh the stupidity...

I guess you never turn on the tv or watch ESPN since except for maybe Tim Legler every single ESPN analyst picked the Lakers last year, 7 of 8 in their espn.com "experts picks" picked the Lakers, mostly in 6 games. Same goes for last year's ECF when everyone was gushing about LeBron and how there's no way he'll let the Cavs lose. We get less respect than one would think.

And once again, almost everyone is picking Orlando (6 of 8 on ESPN). Barkley said we don't have a chance - ORL in 5 or 6... Hilarious... So yes, I'd say most of the media has us as underdogs. Which, frankly, I couldn't care less about.

There are a lot of people that hate us and they have reason to. The more times you beat another team, the more likely people are going to hate you, and we've done a hell of a lot of ass-whoopin' these last two years. From teams in the regular season like the Raptors and the Bobcats, to teams we've beat in the playoffs like the Hawks, Lakers, and Cavs. What's strange is that it seems if we play a team closer, they are more likely to hate us for sneaking by them on a last second shot.

Adding to that, we suddenly became really really good basically overnight, and there's an element of jealousy in there. If the Lakers had won the title last year, they would be on the receiving end of hate for the Gasol trade. But since they lost, it's still McHale did the Cs a favor, even when the Timberwolves start 3 players from that trade and one of them averages 23 and 10.

Were you even born for the Finals last year? ONLY ONE PERSON picked us to win the title in the Finals last year, that would be Tim Legler...every other prediction ranged from Lakers sweep to Lakers in 6...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

The C's are hated because they won the title last year, and a lot of people feel like some of the players haven't been very classy about it.

They're in a unique situation this year, because people usually like to root for an underdog, but they're only underdogs because KG is out. It's tough for people to root for defending champs with a chip on their shoulder.

As fans, yes, you guys should absolutely embrace this.
