Vassilis Spanoulis Won The Euroleague Championship And MVP

Post#1 » by KWSN-Men » Sun May 3, 2009 9:43 pm

I just thought I would let you guys know............

Vassilis Spanoulis just led his team Panathinaikos Athens to the 2009 Euroleague Championship and he won the Final Four MVP award to boot. He was also named to the All-Euroleague Team. For some perspective, Luis Scola never won an MVP in the Euroleague and he never won a Euroleague championship either.

You guys should stop calling him "Greek T-Mac". He can't be Greek T-Mac, having lead his team to a championship. Can he?

Dude's a scrub. Some players just can't play in the NBA.

Must be nice being able to play against other scrubs and losers. He probably felt right at home.

And we call him the Greek T-Mac b/c when he was here he thought he was T-Mac. JVG had to put him on lock down.

T-Mac never got past the first round so far. Spanoulis just lead his club to a championship. Rockets fans must be the worst ever at giving nicknames.

Shall Yao cheer his rings in Chinese League or own the rest of Asian nation teams couple times? He should. But, does these things mean so much for NBA? Hell no. If Yao Ming go back China, he can grab whatever basketball rewards he wants in Asian. Rofl

Lets put this way. Yi, a young Chinese basketball player . The most of people in China think that he is the most talented players has ever existed in China. But, he is struggling so hard in NBA for the past two seasons. He even got more rings than Yao has. He got tons of rewards in Asian as well. Most likely, He might never be as good as Yao is right now. Or he might just have to quit the NBA like Span did. Simply, he just cant be that good in this league.

Scrub player, scrub league, euroscrub. No one outside of some Rockets fans even know he exist here, so have fun talking up the Greek Tmac somewhere where they give a damn.

Did you just imply that the CBA = the Euroleague?

No, the CBA is better. It's produced an NBA player better than any produced by the Euroleague.

It was V-Span who referred himself as 'Greek Mac.'

So the CBA where guys like Kirk Snyder and Bonzi Wells can score 50 a game is better than the Euroleague where guys like Jannero Pargo and Josh Childress were practically scrubs this year (Pargo for sure actually was). Yeah, that makes sense.

T-Wack, Iggyemu, jzmagik, guys are you for real?! :-?

Maybe you know something about NBA, but I watch both NBA and European basketball, and believe me you don't know nothing about BASKETBALL.

BTW Spanoulis didn't deserve the MVP of Final 4 trophy. Diamantidis and Jasikevičius were way better, even Šiškauskas from CSKA.

5 rkg = MVP? Give me a break.

"talkbasket", are you Vassilis_Spanoulis_666 from Interbasket forums? 8-)

No I am not. And IMO final four MVP should be in most deserving order:

1. Spanoulis
2. Fotsis
3. Saras

Spanoulis and Fotsis were the best players of the final for PAO.

I am not an Spanoulis fan but wait a minute... It actually was Jeff Van Gundy who said that.

Edit: taklbasket, hmmm, I think your favorite player is Spanoulis. Maybe I am wrong about this, but you can check by yourself on already mentioned site what do people think if this was deserved individual award for Spanoulis. At least it is very debatable... At least.

After all, basketball is not about individuals, it is about the team.

No offense if you're V-Span fans or whatever, but I don't think I've ever heard anybody on this board ever say they miss V-Span on the Rockets. Not once, and that's pretty rare considering all the garbage that's spewed on these boards at times. He just wasn't meant to be in the NBA.

I'm not sure what you mean by fan of Spanoulis. I'm a fan of Olympiacos. We don't really care for him much. I think Spanoulis and Fotsis were the best of the final, but I wouldn't care who got the MVP. I thought maybe some Rockets fans might like him or want to know about it that was all.

Instead I get a bunch of rather insulting responses.

ummm... I am pretty sure that if JVG did say it, it was in the context that Span was alluding to the fact that he either, played the position of Tmac or played like Tmac on his team back home,

I doubt JVG would have been referencing the fact that Tmac was a first round virgin.

I thought Span won a championship or got close to it before he became a Rocket?

in any event, as much of a Tmac hater that I am, its unfair to compare the Euroleague to the NBA

and what Span did (which was a great thing for him) to what Tmac has done in the NBA

the only think that comes close to fair comparison would have Tmac play in the Euroleague, since Span has played both, but that would be suspect at best

It originated with JVG, not with Spanoulis. Anyway, I just thought he might have some fans in Houston who might want to know about it.

Spanoulis won a European championship, 2 Greek Championships, 3 Greek Cup Championships before this. This is his first Euroleague Championship. Different things.
