WTF?!?!?!

Post#1 » by Bruiser » Mon May 4, 2009 8:38 am

Hey yo!

Check this link:
http://dimemag.com/2009/05/derrick-rose ... calabrine/

It's really amazing the lack of basketball knowledge that many writers proudly show off. Scal the worst player in the league? Really?? Are you kidding me? Are you serious??

The guy is not an athlete by any means but as a basketball player he has some serious skills. Great defender, great shooter, plays terrific team ball, can play 3/4 and defend 3/4/5.

But nowadays, NBA is a track and field competition. Are the Eddy Curry, Reggie Evans, Pat O'Bryant, Marcus Banks, Tim Thomas, Sean May, Mark Blount, Adonal Foyle, DeShawn Stevenson, Gerald Green, Rudy Gay of this world better than him?????

No way man.

Any thoughts? Kind regards.

Rudy Gay? Do you have something against him?

As for Veal, he's not the worst player in the league. He's quite useful for this team this season.

Yes, I do.
Even if Gay is a jaw droping athlete, a good shooter and a pizzaz dunker he lacks all the intangibles that make Scal such an useful guy. He is selfish, a poor defender and has a low BBIQ.

When comparing Scal to guys like Gay or TMac nobody would doubt to pencil Scal as the minor player but I think a team that is leaded by any of them has as many chances as a team leaded by Scal to win it all. That's right, zero.

But while Scal is a very useful player off the bench because of his overall skills, Gay would hardly provide as much as him because of his approach to the game.

That's why I'm not sold on the idea of Marbs as backup PG. I don't like him as starting PG and I'm not sure if he is what we need. I hope Marbs proves this very year how wrong I am.

Meh. he is pretty close to the worst player in the league. Scal and BBD were among the top 20 worst players in the league according to wages of win. Intangibles my *ss - Scal's plus minus is not great. Wages of win say he isn't great. I say he isn't great..

http://www.wagesofwins.com/BottomTen2009.html

If you see that Scal is the twentieth worst player. There are bunch of homers on this board that like to imagine some dregs really help the team win - when in fact they hold the team back.

He's better than Mikki Moore.

Probably better than TA, JR Giddens, and (for now) Bill Walker too...

Scal *is* pretty crappy...he made some big shots for NJ some years back and that inflated his worth. I like him and he's solid off the bench but he ain't great, folks...

Dude, if you were trying to defend him you didn't do a good job! Why not throw POB in there?

Guys like Walker and Giddens don't really rate.. because they don't play. Yes some guy on a 10 day contract is "technically" the worst in the league. But when you harsh on a guy for worst in the league your talking about a guy who is in the ROTATION.

You can make a good case that Scal is one the worst ROTATION guys in the league. BBD has picked it up late in the season and in the playoffs - but during the year (especially at the start) he was up there among those rotation worst players (hence the low rating).

And sorry TA was actually our best bench player for much of the year.. Powe and House came on and eclipsed him in this regard but he was up there.

That's why he is no where to be found on that list. Those guys are guys that play so poorly compared to a replacement player - that they rack up negative wins.

Now IMHO wages of win is not a perfect statistic but I would take it biased gushing. Sure you don't want to think the guy on your team sucks but he does..

I have many times referred to Scal as the worst player in the league and while it might overstate it a bit he is pretty close. Not that he doesn't add something to the team with perimeter shooting and smart plays but if you evaluated each player on what they would do with a 36 min a game starting role I can't imagine there are many players in the league, and no one on this team, that would produce less by any measure than Scal.

I have never understood the hate on TA. I mean he makes mistakes but at the same time he produces on both ends. By comparison we just had to watch a 7 game series with Eddie House, who only does one thing well, for 6 games he sucked at it and he plays one good game and he is a hero.

^Sully, because Eddie isn't as flat out *dumb* as TA when he's on the floor...with TA your just waiting for him to make a boneheaded play...Eddie only shoots, yes, but he doesn't kill you with a stupid play nearly as often or egregious as TA...

Probably the worst in the league...In fact, the only positive he brings is that he makes his teammattes play harder and better because they know he is so bad and they have to carry the liability.

Scal is mad clutch. Celtics wouldn't have beaten the Bulls without him, there were a handful of times Scal saved the Nets in the playoffs too. Gotta respect the real, and Scal is real as they come.

Had the C's had a better player in there they wouldn't have needed those "clutch" shots.

I think it is BS, I think people have make their mind up about a guy and fit the pieces in as they go. Eddie makes a 3 and picks up a tech taunting the opponents bench in the 4th quarter of a playoff game how would you describe that?
