i've always hated the way they measure... w/ shoes is so inconsistent. some players heights grow 1/2 inch some grow 1 1/2 inches.

measure them all in barefeet and add 1 inch for shoes.

Interesting question... without shoes is more consistent, but with shoes is an actual assessment of their height while on the court. I guess the more relevant question is how often players switch their shoes (Kobe and LeBron and Wade switch them all the time, for instance).

You know I believe that most players shoot/contest shots with their hands and not the top of their head. So, standing reach is the REAL important measurement. Of course, players also don't typically shoot or contest shots standing flat-footed either, now we have to consider vertical-leap. Also, some guys jump a lot better with a run-up and for some it doesn't really matter.

etc. etc. etc.

If a guy can play you should freak out about 2-3 inches

Things like strength, quickness, arm length, skill, intelligence, and such come into play as well. Height is important, but it's not the only factor ... else Diop would be godly.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

So, we're undersized at every position?

You say that like it's untrue or you just realized it. Of course were undersized at every position except a rare few. Our pf starting of as a pg and played sf and only pf due to injury during small ball, and our pf averages 6 freaking rebounds. Our Center is the shortest in the league outside of Ben and our pg's are tiny and midget tiny. Our sf is 6'7 which is the shortest sf's are or they move to sg for the most part and our sg of course is 6'5 listed but we all know that he is a little shorter.
Many things are debatable. Us being small is not one of those things.

Although I think the list of average heights for positions is

PG.6'2 listed, if there actually 6'2 that is pretty good and big because Rose is legit 6'2 listed 6'3
SG.6'5-6'6
SF.6'7 if athletic like Wallace and Marion if not 6'8 is right
PF.6'9-6'10
C.7 foot and there is no way around that unless your Zo or Hakeem. They are the only 2 were they were undersized but not undersized. If your 6'11 and you play C they will just list you at 7 foot.

Good catch on the shoed growth. I now firmly believe they should only measure players barefoot. :D

The Height thing has been blown up for a while now. Barkley started the truth when he got listed at 6'7 even though he was 6'4 and 3/4.
Kobe even said on Jay Leno he doesn't like that he is listed at 6'7 because he is 6'5 and 6'6 with shoes. He said the nba will list you as what you are with shoes or with shoes plus an inch. Now if you look at draftexpress predraft measurements that's exactly what the nba does. Rule of thumb whatever there listed at minus a few inches.

As for the Expansion team that doesn't matter to me. The Hornets left and rebuilt the same time we came on the seen and starting to build and look at them compared to us.

Plus imo North Carolina should always have a good team. To me they are the 4th biggest basketball state in the country after NY, Chicago, LA. I know NY has dissapointed but hopefully we will stop dissapointing and soon. Being loyal to Carolina is not a bad idea if LB and Jordan, Felton is a pattern and not a coincendece.

I am hoping we trade for Tyler as long as he goes late. Wouldn't mind a DJ for Lawson trade either if we get something else to.

Dex, you're missing my point on being an expansion franchise.

Being an expansion franchise is different from being a team that is rebuilding. The Bobcats weren't able to use the entirety of the league wide cap space until after season three. This wasn't a cheapskate move by Johnson either, it was a league mandate. Other teams don't have to deal with those sorts of stipulations when they're rebuilding.

I like BG, but he is far too 1-dimensional and small for the kind of money he's going to want.

Let's just draft a really good shooting guard and raise him up right. You know, some MJ time. Now, that would be some tutoring session!

Again I'd love to get Marquis Daniels.
He had a terrific 1st half and suffered from an injury in the second.
He's big,defensive,can slasher,rebounds well and very versatile(can play 1,2 or 3 on both ends)
17m for 3 years

Is MJ the best guy to do that with though? I say get Stackhouse and let him tutor him and then the next year let MJ help him.

Kwame Brown literally broke out into hives on his face because of MJ tutoring him. MJ was so hard on him and he wanted to please MJ so bad. MJ can teach alot of course maybe more then anybody but we would need a guy with really thick skin literally.
