Marburys benching

Post#1 » by Avalanche » Tue May 5, 2009 2:13 am

the guy comes in, gives us a great spark off the bench, scores 8 points in as many minutes on the night Rondo is having an absolutely horrible game

and then Doc cant even find another minute to get him back on the court?

If its possible for a coach to choke a game Doc is doing it

lets hope we can step up and win this, but honestly, it needed to be said... i am as big of a rondo supporter as you will find, but some games you gotta know who to go to, even if its not who you can regularly rely on

Nah, this is about Rondo. Doc wants Rondo out there to just wreck havoc. He needs Rondo going crazy. Celts need that speed out there. If only he would get his head on straight. He is playing like he is on anti-depressants.

I was just about to make a thread for this. Rondo's offensive game is stagnant today.

Rondo is killing this team. What a dumb game. I don't understand it. Ray's ball was down. I don't get how they came out of the rim.

I don't know what Doc was thinking. Marbury was having the game us as fans were asking for, and he played limited minutes. Doc had multiple times to put him in there too.

Just flat out horrible coaching by Doc, simple as that.

exactly, he comes in to be a difference maker... makes a freakin difference and then gets left on the bench to wonder what the hell he has to do now

I think.....just speaking for me.....Rondo has a problem with Steph. It may come out later. There is a problem there. It affects how Rondo plays his game, hopefully it will make him better.

Jealousy over Marbury's outside shot maybe? :D

I kid, I kid... Though I was disappointed that Marbury didn't get more minutes that was the one reason I was watching the game, I turned it off in the 3rd when it became apparent that Doc wasn't going to play Starbury.

I don't mind the decision. Rondo was leading the team for the comeback so I didn't want Doc to take him out. And Marbury at sg doesn't work offensively. We started the 4th quarter down 16 and we eventually cut the lead down to 4 with a Ray Allen 3 90% in the rim. You can't hope for much more then that and I think the Marbury thing is nitpicking. The problem is how the Celtics played in the 1st half with low energy, no aggresiveness like it was an exhibition game.

I think Rondo committed 4 or 5 turnovers in the 4th, he got some boards and some assists but he cost us as much as he gained IMO

again, im a big fan of the guy but tonight he was waay off

I was pretty happy to get what we got from Marbury

This isn't about Doc deciding to leave Rondo in.

It's about Rondo playing like garbage. I kept waiting for him to make a great play but he kept turning it over. If Ray's 1-20 nobody wants Tony Allen in even if he's 3-3. I want Ray out there. And I want Rondo out there.

I agree that marbury needed some time in the 2nd half. he was realy confident and doc buried him. I know he needed to get rondo going but he could have spotted marbury a few minutes. I thought doc did a poor job tonight. if he had stopped that run in the first half we might have won this game.how could he leave perk on the bench for the last 5 minutes or so? I put this game on rondo. despite his effort in the 2nd half he made really poor decisions with the ball tonight and he couldn't hit a basket to save his life

But in the 3rd quarter he was the engine that drove the team. He got to the line something like 12 times. You can't take him out IMO. And although he got some bad turnovers in the 4th, he also forced at least 2 turnovers that I remember too and his pressure was effective.

WOW!!

Anymore fairy tales you would like to share?

The only thing that affected Rondo's game was his head in his @ss.

^I am feeling that what the hell was going on with him tonight. Some of it is the ball just doesn't bounce the right way but it also just looked like he had gotten into the hooch a little or something. I wonder if he isn't sick, 2-12 7 TO one ridiculous airball, even for him. We wouldn't have gotten back in it without him but damn did he **** up that 4th quarter.

Glad to see Steph get into a things a little bit but he was a -7 even if he scored 8 points. Good game bad game Rondo has earned the right to be out there.

Van Gundy in the postgame said that the difference in the second half was Rondo. Doc left Rondo into create pace. I would have put Marbury in instead of House, though. Doc leaves Rondo and Ray in because Doc is trying to win a series not just a game. Doc is looking to win 4 games and he'll take his hits to get there.

He's getting consistent minutes whether he deserves them or not.

That may or may not be the best coaching choice by Doc, but it's not a crazy one.

Yeah, Rondo was asleep for the first half, but once he got it going in the 3rd Doc had to leave him out there since he represented the best chance of getting back in the game.

Marbury did play awesome in the first half, but I think he needs to dominate the ball to be effective...just like Rondo. Eddie House is probably the better spot-up three point shooter, so that's why he got the call at the 2-guard. Marbury off-the-ball hasn't been very good.

It was a tough decision to sit Marbury the 2nd half, but defensible.

Rondo will have a Rondo game in Game 2.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.
