If its Rubio and Gasol for Bynum I would have to think long and hard about it and would likely pull trigger. It may be a lot easier to keep both Lamar and Ariza if that is the trade. How many of us really believe that both Lamar and Ariza will be Lakers next year?

Rubio is going to be a HELL of a player. Considering the investment our team put into Bynum (both money and hrs of tutelage), Bynum's probably untouchable.

But man. Rubio is going to be a HELL of a player.

Who'd you guys take...Dwight Howard or Chris Paul? I'd take Chris Paul.

Anyways, highly unlikely the Lakers would move Bynum at all. Too much invested in him, expectations are moderate enough to give him time - few expect him to be a consistent dominant player with Kobe and Pau on the team. And unless Bynum starts to not care about basketball or proves that he's injury-prone, he'll continue to progress to becoming one of the best centers in the league.

Still...if Memphis lucks out and gets that number one pick...Marc Gasol and Rubio for Bynum and our pick?

I'd do it.

no, we got the better of the 2 brothers.

secondly, wait for it, its coming. its called the later rounds. with all of the beef comin in the 2nd rounds, those 7footers are gonna need someone to combat them. thats bynum.

and if theres one thing about euro players, they dont play defense.

my two cents.
First i dont like that trade because the lakers dont need more potential the ;lakers need talent that ready to produce, we are a contending team.
On the other hand i think that the lakers need to explore a trade with chicago something in the line of bynum, farmar and ammo for noah and hinrich. We need a quality p.g. and if we trade bynum we need another big to come in our way

Hinrich will always be welcome on our team but Bynum will only be considered in a trade for a future franchise player.

Yea, you ain't getting Dwight short of Lebron.

I wouldn't trade Bynum for Bosh though. I might trade Gasol for Bosh though because Bosh's game would fit perfect with Bynum's.

i didnt include the green font

i was basically implying that bynum's unavailable for nothing short of a franchise player and bosh wouldnt be a good fit alongside bosh anyway...

You just don't trade potential franchise bigs.. I know 'potential' is in there.. But I don't think anyone who watches the NBA would deny that Bynum will be a 20/10/2 guy barring injuries.. Marc hasn't shown that type of potential.. I think he will be a very good role player.. But we're a contending team.. You can't give up a vital part of your team for a good role player & the hope that a lottery pick turns into a star player.. Also I'm not close to sold on Rubio..

Who I am however sold on, is OJ.. Kid would be a great PG in the triangle.. sooooo.. If the grizz end up with the #1 & we can get mayo & griffin.. I'd have to pull the trigger..

Wait. So you are suggesting we trade Bynum for a player we drafted in the second round and essentially gave to you guys as throw in for Pau? :o

This has got to be one of the WORST trade thread ideas ever.. Seriously... What were you thinking?

By that logic, then you should never trade a 2nd round pick for a 1st round pick. There are plenty of 2nd rounders that develop into solid players worthy of being traded for another star.

Kneejerk reaction says no- but when you factor Bynum's knee and it's uncertainty, you HAVE to consider it since A) production drop off between Bynum and Gasol isn't that great B) Gasol is much cheaper C) you get a chance at Rubio.

Matter of fact, I'd consider any 3 of these trades for Bynum:
M Gasol + Gay
M Gasol + Mayo
M Gasol + Rubio (if top 2 pick)

We still would have to take back salary, that's really the only dilemma. All moot point anyways, because Memphis is trying to save money...

You can't be so attached to your players that it blurs reality- that reality being the proposed trade is more than fair...

Bynum's knee isn't even the problem right now. It's his conditioning and timing. His knee is fine. It's just going to take time for him to trust it.

Marc Gasol will never have the shotblocking presence that Bynum has. The Lakers need his rebounding and defense if they want to become champions. Marc doesn't provide that. So, no to this trade.

We've only seen Bynum at full force for two shorter stretches so far. The last time he was full force, he averaged 26 and 13 over a month and made it look easy. How quickly people forget.

Plus, making his comeback against Utah's smaller and quicker bigs wasn't exactly favorable. He should be better up to speed now, and I bet he'll have a monster series against Yao, where the two produce even numbers and cancel each other out.

If Yao's production is matched by Bynum, we have Kobe, Gasol, Odom and Ariza to win the series for us against the rest of the Rockets. I like our chances. Without Bynum performing well, this can be a long and tough series.

4-0, baby. There, I said it.

I am the original Bynum hater on this board, if we are to trade him I think we should do it soon before his value drops. Not sure how the salaries match up but I would try to make someone take Luke aswell. IMO the bomb trade would be Bynum/Luke for Josh Smith/Zsa Zsa. A front court of Smith/Pau/Ariza would be super athletic, Lamar and Zsa Zsa off the bench is some serious depth in the front court. Even though Bynum is bigger than Smith, Smith is a huge upgrade on D.
