So in an effort to spew more hate on the golden boy and get my second RealGM Bears thread locked, I thought I'd post on the legitimate topic of Betty joining the Vi-Queens. Perfect fit of course and could lead them to the Superbowl. If he were to come back, how many years would he be effective? 1, 2, 3?

He wasn't bad at the beginning of the season. You can't argue with 6 TD's in one game. However, I think you saw what you're going to get from the guy over the course of his last 5 games. He's staying retired.

That one year rental was a really bad way to end a historic career. He shouldn't have come back.

Well, I personally would be more worried about a Brett Favre-led Vikings team than a Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels-led Vikings.

He's better than what the Vikes have this year and he was hurt in the second half of last season. He could be our backup this year. Ride the bench to a title. Problem is his ego would never let him ride the bench.

Eh. To be honest, I like playing Favre. We absolutely just own him everytime we do.
Just Peterson, Berrian and now Harvin? God I don't care whose throwing the ball.

Can we just be happy with him out of football now? I don't wanna see the guy anymore until he inevitably becomes an analyst, at which point I'll just change the channel.

Yay...

The Vikings taking Brett F would be great for the Bears. Much rather have them get a short term solution that fails and (Please Use More Appropriate Word) the development of their long term solution

Nope. Not worried about this season at all. JA has set this team up to be in contention for the forseeable future. I think we have relevancy that will last more than 5 years with this team. The Vikes on the other hand in two years will be aging and have major issues (especially if P. Harvin doesn't pan out). This division will be a Bears/Packers battle for years to come. I cant wait!

Re: Brett Favreheh...eh...heh
As a Bears fan living in the Twin Cities, I was already sick of the years of Favre speculation and now am drowning in it.
That said I would love to see him as a Viking as it would destroy most Packer fans. It would also be tough for a lot of Viking fans. Then he does just well enough to get them in contention and then goes down or throws a 5 INT game.
He wasn't bad last year, but they threw his arm off. I don't think that would be the case in MN with Peterson, so in that aspect he could make them dangerous in that you'd respect the passing game a lot more than with Sagavarious Jacksenfells. I think the real issue is how is ego would fit in. Talent-wise it makes sense as a QB is there biggest hole.
Plus, we do have a good record vs. Favre under Lovie...so that should help.

Source: Favre rebuffs Vikings, will stay retired
By Rick Schwartz, Yahoo! Sports 4 hours, 53 minutes ago
The Minnesota Vikings will not sign free-agent quarterback Brett Favre, a source close to the team told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday.
In a phone call that took place sometime in the last day, the source said Favre told Vikings coach Brad Childress that he wanted to remain retired. Favre is expected to publicly explain his decision soon.
Favre, who announced his first retirement in March 2008 after spending 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, decided to resume his career last summer and was traded to the New York Jets in August. After one season in New York, Favre retired again and was subsequently released by the Jets on April 29.
Just days after his release from the Jets, speculation began that the Vikings were interested in bringing in a veteran to compete with Sage Rosenfels(notes), who was acquired this offseason from the Houston Texans. Rosenfels is atop the depth chart heading into training camp, with Tarvaris Jackson and John David Booty(notes) also on the roster.

Well that was fun. He got to see the Packer fans get pissed and the Vikings fans get let down - and no one on the Bears wound up on the injury report. Best of all worlds.

With the way Favre operates, I'll bet this isn't the last we've heard of him.
