Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress and quarterback Brett Favre plan to meet at an undisclosed location later this week to discuss the possibility of the former Packers and Jets quarterback renouncing his retirement from the NFL to play the 2009 season with the Vikings, according to a source with direct knowledge of discussions between the two parties.

Did people not watch the last two seasons of Favre? I'd trot out Tavaris Jackson over #4 right now. Same propensity for head-scratching decisions, only in a younger package that already knows the offense.

Most Packers' fans are hoping he goes to Minnesota. It will be outstanding to watch him crash and burn while he tries to get his "revenge."

he personally cost a coach his job and the jets a playoff game. they were headed in that direction. they were on fire. and then he got old. he lost it for them, when they were right in the hunt for first place and reaching a playoff game.

minnesota is also there. they are on the verge. if he goes there. loses steam down the stretch of the season. then they dont make it in, bye bye childress. you shall be fired also.

Brett Favre is going to outlast every QB in the league now.

I want him to be exposed. I am so sick of the knob slobbing of #4.

How did you go an entire post in a thread about the Vikings QB situation without mentioning John David Booty?

I'm not entirely sure it was ever anything but...

And give me a break on the dudes in the media comparing him to Jordan. Jordan sat out seasons when he retired. Favre retires, guarantees he'll never change his mind, only to change his mind a few weeks or months later. Actually, I would be surprised if he didn't do this whole charade from the beginning so he could get released and go to Minnesota.

Two seasons ago Favre was borderline MVP caliber. If you want to win this year, I think you unquestionably lean to Favre over Jackson. I think the main issue is that at this point Favre's career, he should have to compete for the job but instead he's going to have it given to him.

Its just sad now. What team will he play for in 2010? Chiefs? Texans? Bucs? What will he call the reason for that one?

YOU HAD a great career, this is now like if Michael Jordan had come out of retirement a 3rd time and joined the Hawks or something like that. Let it go, what else do you have to prove.

Two and a half months. I think you're quite a bit closer to nailing it than my June 17th figure unless this drags out.

Green Bay - The Minnesota Vikings won't be signing Brett Favre after all, according to a report.

Yahoo! Sports, citing a source close to the team, is reporting Favre told Vikings coach Brad Childress on the phone sometime in the past 24 hours that Favre wanted to remain retired.

Favre is expected to explain his decision soon publicly, according to the report.

He probably didn't like all the backlash he was getting.

So, Minny rejects Brett Favre, and now Brett Favre is trying to make it look like he rejected them by saying he's staying retired? Does that sum the last two days up?
