Rockets offseason

Post#1 » by diggity_88 » Tue May 5, 2009 4:07 am

If Mcgrady has successful surgery this summer. Would you still do the McGrady vs Carter deal? I think if you guys had Carter in these playoffs, you could at the same level as the Lakers if not a bit higher. So i'm just curious with the current team being so close to a championship, will you take your chances with Mcgrady again to see if he just had some bad luck, while keeping his shorter contract? Or will you go for the gold next year, while taking on the longer contract?

Depends how healthy T-Mac is. If he is pretty healthy, I think we keep just because this is his contract year.

With his 22 million coming off the books next year, I think we'll take our chances with him. Especially if we want to retain Artest and Wafer. I think Alexander will be more willing to eat the Lux Tax if he knows its only for a year.

T-Mac is very unlikely to be healthy/playing at the beginning of the season. If a trade happens it'll be a deadline deal.

We're most likely going to have the same team as currently for the start of next season (assuming Ron and Von stay on). T-Mac's really hurt.

No, Carter is getting too old.

He'll play out his contract in Houston. Possible mid-season trade if there is interest and a good deal on the table. But I think he'll play out his last year in Houston.

Tmac probably won't be back till midseason. Carter is great, but is too injury prone and his contract is a burden...just let Tmac's contract run out and go after a 2 like Joe Johnson in '10 or maybe Wade but I think he will probably resign with the Heat.

You seem to have alluded to a really good side benefit of having a good showing in this year's (and next year's) playoffs, and that's the perception that we are, or on the cusp of, contender status without T-Mac. When players like JJ and Wade hit free agency and want to leave subpar teams and go to a contender (a likely case for both ATL and MIA) that is a huge factor.

Yea and they probably want to play with a big man like Yao so I like our chances at landing a star wing :D

Split the MLE on Wafer and hopefully Jeff Foster (hes a FA isnt he?)

Let McGrady re-hab

Carter hasnt been injury prone since he left Toronto. It's just a tag people put on him, since he was out a couple of years in Toronto.

Foster is a decent defender, and he has length. What else do we need?

BTW, Jeff Foster won't be a free agent. He signed a contract extension with Indy at the beginning of the year.
