Shaq can probally take down 99.9% in all major league sports, he's over 7 feet and almost 400 pounds of muscle.

Shaq should join TNA wrestling like Pacman did, it would make some great comedy and knowing Shaq he would create a good storyline.

Hard to say. There's a been a few 7' MMA fighters before, none of which made a huge impact. As for Shaq, I think now he would probably get laid down, but back in his prime, I'd put my money on him. He was an absolute beast back in the day.

Wouldn't be much of a match as shaq can throw mighty punches with an imact of over 800lbs per sq inch from a distance. Would be difficult for Liddell to do anything while he must first avoid them blows from too far of a distance because if one lands he isn't going to shake them off very quickly!

A better match would be Shaq vs. "Beast from the East."

None of them built like Shaq though.

As much as a think Shaq is a tough guy, Liddell would paste him. It's HIS JOB to beat people down, he wouldn't have a problem getting through Shaq's jab, and Shaq wouldn't have taken 1% of the punches Chuck has...

Since he is so big, the only chance another MMA guy would have it to get him down on the ground. Shaq is too big.

However, I do like that he is trainning in MMA to get motivated and in shape. He looked good this year comparied to years past and I think he is motivated again. I like it.

^Serious?!

I think Liddell could easily just rush him and punch him...kick the legs, make Shaq buckle then night night...Can't believe people think this would be Shaq taking this...MMA is no cakewalk...Shaq's size would work as intimidation against most people, but not against a true fighter like Liddell, even though he's past his prime too...

This would be 3-4 kicks to Shaq's legs, a quick jab to make Shaq keel over then BAM, all over...

Are you kidding me? Shacks legs are like tree trunks! Liddell would snap his own leg if he tried that, not to mention Liddell isnt really a kicker, he prefers to punch and ground and pound. His kicks are usually weak and just used to set up his overhand right. I would love to see Shaq vs. Bob Sapp or Hong Man Choi. Hong Man Choi is 7 ' 2" and 356lbs. Battle of the Super Giants live from Tokyo! :D

But i do LOVE Bruce Lee and love that fight with him and Kareem. Kareem trained with Bruce for like 7 years before he died. I would love to see how Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do would in MMA. If you read his Jeet Kune Do book, he kinda invented MMA. Using a style with no style. Using what works and getting rid of the B.S.

Big guys usually like to stand up and bang because
1. they're big
and
2. they dont have a good ground game.

Shaq has been training Gracie ju-jitsu for 10 years. If you dont know about Gracie ju-jitsu, its the best in the world. A yellow belt in Gracie ju-jitsu is like a 5th degree black belt in another form of ju-jitsu. If ANYONE got Shaq to the ground the would have a very difficult time submitting him or finishing him off. All they could do is try to "lay and pray"

I've been watching MMA for a while now and I think it would be a good fight, Liddel isn't going to try and take Shaq to the ground, it's just not what he does, he's a slugger, and if he tried to punch on with Shaq who knows what could happen, it'll be whoever gets the first punch in :P

I love your post on Bruce Lee, Kerrsedd. You obviously know your martial arts history! If I'm not mistaken, Bruce took principals from 26 or 28 types of martial arts including Western Boxing, Gung Fu among others, and Karate and meshed them into the first MMA style. "Too many fixed positions in Gung Fu". I remember that line. He wanted to create the best FIGHTING style, and not necessarily the best martial ART. Translate that over to today, and MMA guys train in wrestling, jits, and boxing (mainly). They all have to be well rounded to avoid what happened in the early days of UFC where a 185 lb Royce Gracie would get beat on for 10 minutes and just catch you in an armbar.

I've admired Bruce for the better part of 30 years. I have all his movies and a few documentaries. He was an amazing human being, and he is pretty much directly responsible for the popularity of Martial Arts today. Until he came along, no one was allowed to teach Martial Arts to non Asian people, and when Bruce opened up his 1st school, it caused an outrage among old Chinese Gung Fu families. So much so that there was even a rumor that Bruce's death was actually an assassination by the Chinese Mafia because he broke their sacred oath and brought Gung Fu to the mainstream West. (If you watch "Game of Death", the movie with Kareem, it was actually released in 1978, 5 years after Bruce's real death. In the movie, Bruce is an actor who had an assasssination attempt on him while filming a movie, which he escaped.) Fast forward to the set of "The Crow" with Bruce's son, Brandon, and that subplot actually took place! Some blame it on the curse of Bruce's family.
Some blame it on the mafia again! I guess we'll never know.

But to get on topic, judging by the way Chuck has fared in his last few fights, I'd put my money on anyone he is fighting, and this is coming from a Lidell fan. He has looked horrible. He has been a whole step slower than his opponents, a fact evident in the Rashad fight. Rua knocked him out. Hell, the Dean of Mean, Keith Jardine whooped him pretty good. With the exception of the Vanderlei fight, he has looked horrible. If he and Shaq tangled, he would have to get inside Shaq's 7'1" reach just to have a chance. If he gets inside, I'm pretty sure Shaq is strong enough to take him down and use some of the Gracie jits on him. And, not to mention that Shaq has been training with someone that knows a little about Lidell-- Randy Couture!

I'd pay to see it! My favorite NBA player versus my favorite MMA fighter!

The fight i would pay to see is Shaq vs Kimbo Slice or the other fight i would love to see is Shaq vs Bob Sap.

I think it will be a better match then the Chuck fight.

Shaq would eat Liddell for breakfast.

Chuck: 6'2", 205 lbs
Shaq: 7'2, 325lbs

There is a limit to skill.

p.s. Shaq has been training in some sort of combat/martial art for at least a decade. It's not like he would walk in and not know what to do.

Iceman hasn't looked too great in the past couple of fights, but I don't think you could have an MMA rookie like Shaq and just expect an easy victory for the Diesel.

How many times has Shaq been HIT or KICKED or taken someone on NOT intimidated by him?
My point is Liddell does/did this for a JOB...Shaq has never been punched I imagine...

Also it's one thing for Liddell to look slow against Shogun et al, but shaq is still going to be slower.
