We're winning the mental battle
The series maybe evened up now, but we're winning the mental battle. The Lakers thought they could punk us with their fake thuggery and bush league tactics, but we were still right up in their faces not backing down. We were still competitive throughout game 2 despite Crawford doing Yao and Artest dirty and the Lakers playing at their best. IMO if the rest of the games are reffed fairly, we still have a great shot at upsetting the Fakers.
I first came into this series thinking Lakers would beat us 4-1, but now that I've seen the light, I think the series is much closer than most people think. We've shown that we're one of the toughest and most resilient teams in the league, and I think we're definately in the Lakers heads.. We'll see whats up in Houston.

Re: We're winning the mental battle
Hehehe
The Rockets are now on the Lakers minds instead of looking ahead to the finals. The Lakers are too confident and entitled. I give you that.
But....
The Lakers were not the ones who were rattled in the 4th. The Rockets were the ones making mental mistakes and turnovers.
Phil Jackson was not the one sending his bench player to the locker room because things got too hot.
Kobe got a cheap shot in, but Artest lost the battle losing his cool. Artest also lost the mental battle against Kobe the last time the Lakers visited Houston.
So, no Houston is not winning the mental battle because Rockets fans even said that it is your team that should have kept cool against Lakers tactics.

LOL keep telling yourself that. Lakers resorting to bush league tactics and fake thuggery to win games is very telling of who's winning the mental battle. Like I said, we'll show you whats up in Houston.

I thought Artest handled the elbow great. He told Kome that he wasn't going to take that ****, and sent him a message without being dirty. If you listened to his post game interview, he was 100% accurate in what he was saying. Some people will let his reputation cloud the big picture, but I guarantee you that little Kome will think twice before pulling that garbage again.

I agree, Artest handled it perfectly, Stern and the refs were going to make sure LA won this game under any circumstances.. beyond that, Houston is definitely winning the mental battle. The only thing standing in their way is Stu Jacksonand/orthe refs for the next 2 games making sure the Lakers win home court advantage back. It is stupid ridiculous to think LA deserves this title... Go Rockets!!!!

Re: We're winning the mental battle
I must say if it is going to take monster efforts from Kobe and Gasol every game I like our chances. This was just the same was what happened in game 2 @ Portland. The shooting guard and power forward had massive games. I'm aware that there isn't a comparison between Kobe Bryant and Brandon Roy but if we can keep Kobe to 30 or under and we play relatively well we could pull this out. Just need to keep feeding Yao.

Don't forget the X-factor that is Kareem Abdul JaBynum, who has sucked all playoffs. He gets going without foul trouble, Houston could be in trouble.

Bynum? Ha Don't even compare him to a NBA legend in Kareem. Glass legs Oden did way more damage to us than Bynum can ever do. Dude is overhyped like many of the players on the Lakers. You guys can take ur "rigged" championship this year, but next year, you guys will get stomped by us or a Portland team....count on it. Ron was right. Roy > Kobe.

LOL at those saying the refs and Stern are favoring the Lakers. Thats why Kobe couldnt get to the line in game one. Thats why the Rockets have shot more free throws in both games, 13 more free throws than the Lakers all together, and have 7 less fouls called on them in the series. Thats why the Lakers were in the penalty three minutes into the 4th quarter of game 2 because of ticky-tack touch fouls. Thats why they threw Fisher out of the game and called three technical fouls on the Lakers. You guys who claim this are pathetic.

Going into the 4th quarter, Rockets 20 fouls, Lakers 11.
8 minutes left in 4th quarter, our leading scorer, Artest ejected.
Game Over.
No amount of ticky-tack touch fouls can give back what happened.

how many free throws did both teams have at the start of the 4th? Im just curious.
And I really dont feel any sympathy for Artest getting ejected and the fact that he was your leading scorer. He instigated the ejection. Sure Kobe elbowed him, but again, he reacted completely out of line and completely after the fact. And he got busted. If only he would have kept his cool, or maybe just kept his cool after the first technical... man he really could have foiled Stern's evil plan.

I just counted really quickly just now. Rockets 8 free throws in the 4th and Lakers 1 free throw.
Again, all the fouls and free throws given to us in the 4th didn't matter because Artest, Scola, and Wafer were gone.

Winning the mental battle? Artest had yet another melt down and got ejected... Wafer blew a gasket with Adelman and was sent to the locker room. Plus the Lakers outscored the Rockets 31 to 20.

So many Laker trolls. Luckily for them our mods are pretty lenient about stuff like this.

Dude, this is playoff basketball. Physical play is to be expected. I just hope that cooler heads prevail and that the refs can regain control of this series.

You are trying to confuse physical plays with getting away with anti-sportsmanship elbow-throws. I think you need to do better than that.

Hackle you write like you have 10 posts not 2000. 3pt shooter is nearly dead on. Sure DFish got the badass free shot on Scola, and received his well deserved punishment, but Houston was the one that imploded in the end. The mentally stronger team last night was the Lakers. That being said Houston is bringing it and I actually care about this series now.
