Wiretap- Fisher suspended for game 3

Rafer Alston of the Orlando Magic and Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers have each been suspended one game without pay for their roles in separate incidents last night, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations Stu Jackson announced on Thursday.

Fisher has been suspended for striking Houston’s Luis Scola with his shoulder and head with 13.2 seconds remaining in the third period of the Lakers’ 111-98 win last night over the visiting Houston Rockets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals at STAPLES Center. Fisher received a Flagrant Foul Penalty Two and was ejected from the game at the time of the play.

Jackson also announced that the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant has been assessed a Flagrant Foul Penalty One for elbowing Houston’s Ron Artest in the chest area with 6:57 remaining in the fourth period of last night’s game.

That sux ...... I don't get the point of giving kobe the Flagrant 1.

Because it was, and they need to assess it because of the possibility of a cumulative penalty as the playoffs wear on.

The officials screwed up the entire sequence -- Artest should have been called for a foul, Bryant should have gotten a flagrant or technical, both guys play on and the whole situation never would have gotten to the point it did.

All in all, a fair decision in my opinion. Fish clearly deserved his suspension, and Bryant, after looking at all the angles, elbowed Artest in the chest rather than the chin.

I'd be ticked if I was a Magic fan, though. Didn't Aldridge get away with the same thing against Garnett in the regular season that Alston did last night?

Kobe should have not got a flagrant foul for that play. Ron was all over his back and his hands were all over Kobe's head. That was a foul on Ron and they made the right call at that time. But Ron Artest should have not got kicked out of the game. But since they kicked him out of the game he should also be suspended for one game for getting in his face and yelling and putting his hands on Kobe's face. Fisher getting suspended i cant argue with that, he did hit Scola on purpose. But Scola should have been thrown out of the game he tried to start a fight with 2 different players at one time, and for that little cheap shot on Odom. Then scola was chipping all night with different players all night long. Scola should have been tossed from that game.

I can understand Fisher's suspension... but why isn't Stu Jackson consistent with all others?

Celtic's Rondo throws Kirk Heinrich into the stands... and he also clobbers Brad Miller in the face. He gets nothing, not even a flagrant.

Looking at the play, Celtic's House fore-arms Rafer Alston before getting flicked. Could've assessed a flagrant on that too, just like Kobe's against Artest.

I'm fine with these calls, but you had to know things would escalate around the league after Stu Jackson issued a hunting license to Rondo.

Fair on Fish, fair on Kobe. All fair penalties. And fair on Alston as well.

Please. Kobe should have been suspended. The NBA is a joke, unless your the Lakers/Spurs/Celtics/Cavs...

Its too bad the NBA doesn't have the guts to enforce the same thing on Kobe. His elbow was the same as Dwight Howards. He should have been suspended for a game too. I also think Scola should have been suspended for his part.
