Here is an idea if NO really wants to save money this coming year.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to New Orleans and San Antonio being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New Orleans and San Antonio had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Good idea but I really don't think the Hornets will help out the Spurs like that. Chandler is young enough where a worse team in a rebuild mode would gladly take him in return for cap savings.

My biggest hope right now is we do a sign and trade with Toronto for Marion. I really don't think Marion will accept the MLE but he'll know once the market opens that he's not 15+ mil player anymore. I think in a S%T route, we can get him for 8-10 mil a year. I don't care who we trade. Give him George hill. or Roger Mason. Along with any expirings of their choice. Give him a draft pick if he wants.

Our window of opportunity is closing. We got to make a move now. I sure as hell don't want to wait until 2010 to make a big move. It's not like if we land a big FA in 2010 then we'll be on top. We're likely to have a whole new team from top to bottom in 2010 and chemistry won't click right away. So really if we wait, our best chance will be in 2011 when the new group got some chemistry going. By then, we'll be playing with a 36 year old Duncan and 33 year old Manu. NO WAY!

Please make a move this summer and not waste any of Manu/Duncan's years.

Well don't under estimate Shinn. He is even worse than Sarver when it comes to penny pinching.

Thats basically the same type of package that the Thunder offered for Chandler at the deadline so I don't see why they wouldn't do the deal. Chandler would be a great addition, he could take some of the weight off of Duncan's shoulders and allow Duncan to rest alot more throughout the season. I really like the idea.

Bruce Bowen for Adam Morrison? the money works, Lakers seem to not have a spot to develop Morrison. Plus he threw blows at Vujacic, that alone makes him good Spur material. :lol:

I would be a horrible GM. I just can't help but think Pop could make Adam a good Pro.

Mason, Oberto, and Mahinmi for Kaman and Second Rounder

Clippers are interested in cutting salary, so that makes Kaman expendable. With Camby on the team and Jordan as their future C, I think they'll be willing to take back anything for Kaman (expirings).

Spurs would get a center with playoff experience and youth along with talent.

Hornets Trades:

James Posey + 2009 1st round pick (#21)

San Antonio Trades:

Bruce Bowen

Hornets want to cut salary to get under the tax and moving Posey for an expiring is a good way to do that. For taking back Posey's bad contract the Hornets give us their first rounder which we use to add some youth. With that pick we could get a decent young wing player like Chase Budinger or Sam Young. We could also use the pick to move up farther in the draft.

Yes, he'd provide another great scoring option so not so much fell on Parker and Ginobili.

How about something similar to what almost happened at the trade deadline?

Camby/Collins for Bowen/Thomas/Hill/2011 first (Lottery Protected thru 2014)

I would most definitely want Outlaw we really don't need Blake. I would do that deal if Portland is interested.

Splitter is not going to be coming over for at least 3 years, so ya I think we would be willing to throw his rights in to make the deal work.

What type of multi team trade do you have in mind?

This is the deal I have in mind, and I have Battier coming to LAC in a separate deal:

Clippers Get: Batum/Hill/Rights to Splitter/#24/#32
Clippers Give: Kaman/Battier

The Clips save a bunch of money and look to rebuild.

Pistons Get: Kaman/Battier/Oberto
Pistons Give: Prince/#15

The Pistons reload, using some cap space, and get their center in Kaman. Then they could sign someone like Boozer to fill out a stellar starting 5.

Blazers Get: Prince/#15
Blazers Give: Batum/Outlaw/#24/#32

The Blazers get the perfect SF for them, and move up in the draft to get DeJuan Blair.

Spurs Get: Outlaw
Spurs Give: Oberto/Hill/Rights to Splitter

The Spurs get a good, young scoring option, to add to their big 3.

I don't want to give up Hill for a one year rental. If it was Batum... I would seriously consider it.
