One of the major leagues’ premiere right-handed hitters is set to serve a long suspension for drug use. Fortunately for the New York Yankees, that player is not Alex Rodriguez(notes).
A day after baseball suffered another black eye due to a player testing positive for a banned substance, Rodriguez makes his season debut following hip surgery - and plays his first game since admitting to using performance-enhancing drugs - when the sinking Yankees face the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.
Rodriguez rejoins New York (13-15) at a time when it is in desperate need of a spark, losing five straight for the first time since May 2007.
“We’re all very encouraged that he’s doing well and we’re all anxious to get him back,” said Yankees manager Joe Girardi, whose team lost 8-6 to Tampa Bay on Thursday night.

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

C.C. must come up big. This game is a must-win. A sweep would be nice. All 3 pitching matchups should favor us.

So is this Rodriguez kid somebody that was performing down in Scranton-Wilkes Barre? He's got an awful tight swing.

This ump sucks ass. The strike 3 calls on Tex and ARod were both inside.

Beautifully done, CC. Dear lord, those breaking balls were devastating tonight.

By the way, since everyone's been taking shots at Tex, i'd like to point out that Derek Jeter is getting paid the same salary to put up the same lack of offensive production while his defense singlehandedly made the 9th scarier than it should have been. Calling off Damon to go scrambling after that blooper was just (Please Use More Appropriate Word), to say nothing of his "range" on the play before. It's only fair that our illustrious captain take his share of the blame for the shaky start.
