Well that's mostly because they already won game 1 and game 2.

When the Sox were down 3-0 to the Yanks, I thought it was over (who didn't). When they were down to the tribe 3-1, I was honestly confident they would come back and take it (they did). Different sport, different scenarios, but f*** the odds. Those same odds swing right back in our favor if we put it together and take game 4.

It's not panic time yet, brother.

Well it was always going to be hard beating the Magic without KG.

Too many thought that we were still locked into the ECF.

This is still a series, but we deserve to be under dogs to the Magic.

Well, our best remaining player is WORN out---I've been saying it since the playoffs started----it was obvious just looking at his face in PRE-GAME interviews---NOT Post Game interviews.....So, we're screwed without KG/Powe and with Pierce FINISHED.....but, we should still beat this Weakasss Orlando team.

Wasn't it said on WEEI that the team that won game one won the series something like 85% of the time. Chicago won game one and didn't win the series against Boston. So, you never know... But, game three is the one you want to win, if you're Boston. Too much pressure to win game four. Ray has a sub par game, again. You can't expect to win games when one of your better offensive players is under performing. Boston has to play with a sense of urgency, and you aren't getting that from them. I don't know if that's more to do with the players or the head coach.

Come on guys....try not to be too reactive to every game. Series swing emotions too much, whether it is a win or a loss. Take a look at the bigger picture. A win in game 4 and we have game 5 in Boston, and a best of 3 with 2 of them in our building.

I do have a problem with how the Celtics come out after a blowout win. They act like they are still up 20 from the previous game when the game starts.

Game 3: Lewis was feeling it, Turk was feeling it, no one saw Anthony Johnson coming. Ray and Paul were off. Baby couldn't hit layups. The shot just feels different on different days. That is what happened here.

I still feel as if we are the better team. But it still wouldn't hurt if Reggie Miller was right.

75 percent is just a statistic of what's happened in the past. It has nothing to do with this series.

Magic fan here:
Another statistic is that the team that wins game 1 wins their series 80% of the time. Boston and Orlando both lost game 1 of their first series. So ...

Boston's goal is to win either game 3 or 4 to take back the home court advantage.

All that is saying is the team that is a game or more up has an advantage 75% of the time. Now 50% of the time is dead even so its not that big of a deal.

That said, I would rather be up the 1. Game 4 is huge.
My 2 cents is worth 5 cents.

Last year's playoffs:

ATL wins games 3. Celtics win series.
Cavs wins game 3. Celtics win series.
Lakers win game 3. Celtics win series.

Meaningless stat.

At that point in those series was Boston up 2-1 or down 1-2?
My 2 cents is worth 5 cents.

The actual stat was that the team that won game 3 WHEN the series had been tied 1-1 won 75% of the time, which none of those series you quoted from last year were in that category. Although the Detroit/Boston conference finals from last year did fit the description. The series was tied 1-1 going back to Detroit, Boston pulled out a win in game three and, ultimately, the series.

It's a solid stat. I've been a Celtic fan since 92-93, and if you look at all the playoff series they have had since that time that have been tied up 1-1 going into game three, the outcome of game 3 is a pretty good indicator of who ultimately wins the series:

92/93 EC 1st round: Celtics and Hornets are tied up after splitting the two games in Boston. Charlotte wins game 3 and finish the Celtics off in four.

94/95 EC 1st round: Celtics and Magic are tied up after splitting the two games in Orlando. Orlando wins game 3 in Boston and finish the Celtics off in four.

01/02 EC semi-finals: Celtics and Pistons are tied up after splitting the two games in Detroit. The Celtics win game 3 in Boston and finish the Pistons off in five.

01/02 EC finals: Celtics and Nets are tied up after splitting the two game in New Jersey. The Celtics have a great come-from-behind victory in game three but ulimately lose the series in six.

02/03 EC 1st round: Celtics and Pacers are tied up after splitting the two games in Indiana. The Celtics win game 3 in Boston and finish the Pacers in six.

04/05 EC 1st round: Celtics and Pacers are tied after splitting the two games in Indiana. The Pacers demolish the the Celtics in game 3 and ultimately beat the Celtics in seven games.

07/08 EC finals: Celtics and Pistons are tied splitting the two games in Boston. The Celtics go in and beat the Pistons in Detroit in game 3 and wins the series in six.

08/09 EC 1st round: Celtics and Bulls are tied after splitting the two games in Boston. The Celtics destroy the Bulls in game 3 in Chicago and eventually win the series in seven.

So of the eight series listed above, only 1 of the 8 did not go the way the stat would have predicted it to. Like I said, its a pretty good indicator.

Personally, I still think the Celtics have a 50/50 chance of pulling this series out, as you can't underestimate the hearts of the champions and the Magic are, imo, paper tigers, but statistically you can't argue that the Magic aren't the favorites now.

except you guys had KG and Powe (who was your best player on the bench) playing at the time

I'm not going to say you guys can't win but you have a lot going against you.

lol. Ya see, there's the tradeoff. We get to hack away at everyone, while Dwight Howard is allotted 15 fouls per game to insure he doesn't foul out in the first quarter.

We all know this team is hit-or-miss right now - I think they'll have a chance to win game 4 because they'll push hard for it and Orlando will likely slacken a bit - but we know what we have always known - this team is built around its 3 HoFers, KG being the centerpiece.

Without KG - the best player - this team is what it is against the rest of the elite - a wounded animal, dangerous, but dying...
