 at Kobe being 1st Team. Shoot, Phil Jackson even hid him last year by sticking him on Rondo. So now, this supposed 1st Team All Defensive player is guarding a guy who is barely a threat from outside 15 feet, leaving the likes of Radmanovic, Vujacic, Walton and Fisher to guard Pierce and Allen. Wow.

As I said in the thread I started not seeing this one, the second-team frontcourt was Battier/Artest/Duncan, which is a lot of position-shifting.

That has a lot to do w/ why Perk missed out -- they only picked three big men total, along with seven perimeter players.

Edit: That said, Pryzbilla seems to have been ahead of Perk anyway.

Rondo might be the best defensive PG in the game.. The problem is - there are not really any good defensive PG's in the game. Because of the handcheck rule changes - those little PGs are too quick at changing direction for anyone to stay in front of them. Thus even defenders like Rondo excel at things like help defense, steals and rebounding (which in a roundabout way is defense).

Rondo's PER against was 16.5 - which is not that stellar. But its not his fault really as I don't know ANY PG that can really shut people down. This is why I personally put less value on PG defense. If Rondo wasn't the assist guy and scorer that he has become his defense wouldn't keep him on the court.. This is a why a guy like Webber can watch Rondo briefly and say he isn't that good on defense. He gets burned by quick guys - repeatedly. But so do other quick PG's like Paul. He cannot "learn" to stay in front of guys, IMHO. With today's rules you would have to be Superman to pull that off.

But on the C's with Garnett its a nice effect - as his long arms and help D really cause havoc out there when combined with Garnett's help D and shot blocking presence.. The C's become a defensive force..

Pete were did you get Rondo's opponent PER? 82 games has it at 15.3.

No way he's better than Dwight Howard. No way.

I don't think we should have gotten three players out of ten. I'm glad we got two. Well deserved. Maybe Perk will get his share later on (even though I expect Oden/Howard to dominate this in the future).

Only PG that I can think of who can play some real D is Lindsey Hunter...and yeah Perk got screwed pretty badly. I think he is almost more fundamentally sound defensively than KG, and that isn't a light compliment.

You've got to be joking?

Kevin Garnett is a defensive monster in all aspects.

No, Im not really joking all that much. From my perspective, sometimes KG is almost TOO active, leaving his guy a little too much room to operate when he slides over for help...but that is why I said ALMOST.
