We're definitely excited about getting Rondo on our team. He's proven to be one of the better pg's in the game and brings a dimension we really really need....defense.

Milwaukee and Detroit have a trade to announce, pending Detroit signing Chase Budinger to the scale deal (* 120%) for the #21 pick.

So Budinger's deal should be:

1st year: 1,266,120
2nd year: 1,361,040
3rd year team option: 1,455,960
4th year team option: 2,319,344
5th year QO: 3,342,175

*I'm assuming the 2nd and 3rd year are *1.2 as well. Correct me if I'm wrong. The 1st year salary for the trade purpose is correct.

Then the trade is:

Charlie Bell - 3,602,960
Damien Wilkins - 3,300,000
TOTAL - 6,902,960

for

Cory Maggette - 8,937,931
Chase Budinger - 1,266,120
TOTAL - 10,204,051

Milwaukee is under the cap and can absorb the extra salary. This creates a TPE for Detroit of (10,204,051 - 6,902,960) = 3,301,091.

Milwaukee accepts. We take on quite a bit of salary long term, but we think Maggette fits our plan very well and provides a #1 scorer on the wing, which is something we were missing sorely. Budinger is a nice wing project as well.

Why would you multiply it by 1.2? Those salaries listed are for 2009-2010.

You have to multiply all of the rookie scale salaries by 1.2, what he had was right.

Utah and Philly have agreed to a trade:

Philly sends/ Utah Receives:
Michael Redd $17,040,000
#36

Utah Sends/ Philly Receives:
Andrei Kirilenko $16,452,000
CJ Miles $3,700,000
#50

Salaries work.

Utah accepts. We aren't sure if we are going to start Redd or have him come in as a Ginobli type player, but either way, he provides some good offense and shooting which complements Deron and Boozer nicely. With the drafting of Johnson, we don't have much need for Miles, and with Landry and the #36, we feel we can have solid backups for PF.

accepted.

Ak fills a need at SF, we move Jackson back to the 2. THis deal makes our huge frontline even bigger. Calderon/Jackson/AK/Camby/Shaq is not only a great lineup, but we can actually stop people. Miles is a nice young player off the bench, and the pick swap is because were gettting miles. Good dealing with you.

Becuase teams can sign players for 120% of the rookie scale, and that is what about 99% of them do.

I would have ended this a long time ago, seeing as no one has said that specifically, but he is correct. I think it's up to Skorf to decide if we should just use normal numbers or play it out like the real NBA and multiply by 1.2.

Rookies sign for the rookie scale x 1.2

A team may sign a player for as little as 80% or as much as 120% of the scale salary figure. For example, the 1st year salary for the #1 overall pick drafted in 2005 can be as little as $2,893,680 or as much as $4,340,520. In most cases, the contract that is actually signed is for the maximum 120% figure. Teams are able to provide this amount using the Rookie exception, even if they are over the salary cap. Annual raises are limited to 8%, and also can't exceed 120% of the scale amount for that season.

Since almost all rookies do sign for the rookie scale x 1.2; every rookie will be signed to that value.
