Yao Out for the Playoffs

Post#1 » by Plastered » Sun May 10, 2009 1:21 am

It was just announced on ABC during the Hawks/Cavs game that Yao has a hairline fracture in his left foot and will be out for the playoffs. This is a huge blow to Houston, and really does suck because this was turning out to be a great series.

But the Rockets announced later Saturday night that further examination of Yao's injury revealed a hairline fracture. The Rockets say Yao will need 8-12 weeks to recover, though no surgery is required.

"We've won without people all year long," Adelman said. "It's just one more case. You can't dwell on who's not here. You have to dwell on who is here. These guys truly believe, if we go out and play the way we're capable of playing, we can win a game."

BREAKING NEWS : YAO DONE FOR SEASON

Post#2 » by DEEP3CL » Sun May 10, 2009 1:27 am

http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/ ... season_over

HOUSTON - NBA sources on Saturday told FOX 26 Sports Houston Rockets center Yao Ming's season is over.

Rockets officials have decided even if the franchise advances to the NBA's Western Conference Finals, Yao will not play any more this season.

The Rockets had issued a release earlier Saturday stating that Yao had undergone tests on his injured left ankle and would be re-evaluated Sunday by team physician Dr. Tom Clanton.

The Rockets initial tests on Yao showed that he had a sprained ankle. He suffered the injury during the Rockets loss to the Lakers in game three of their best of seven series Friday.

The Rockets trail the Lakers two games to one.

Rockets center Yao Ming was ruled out for the remainder of the sesaon after a hairline fracture was found in his left foot Saturday evening.

The Rockets had hopes he could play Sunday in Game 4 in their series against the Los Angeles Lakers, but additional diagnostic tests found the fracture.

The hairline fracture will not require surgery but will require an eight-to-12 week rehabilition. This is the third consecutive year that Yao's season was interrupted or ended by a fracture of a bone.
Sad.........Yao was a soldier though.

It sucks for Houston but you have to wonder about how Yao had to play 40+ minutes
for Houston to beat the Blazers when he had been playing about 32 minutes per game
all season.

It's going to be impossible for Houston to recover from Yao's loss for Denver is next up
for LA. I hope you guys beat the thuggish Denver Nuggets.

Bad loss for Houston and that effectively means that the series is done.

The most unfortunate part of professional sports. That this kind of thing doesn't happen every game is a miracle really. These guys put a ton of stress on their bodies. Really a sad day for any basketball fan.

they need to come to grips with the fact that their two franchise players are injury prone. hate that he has to sit,now alot of rox fans will blame the loss on this.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

None of you guys should be saying the series is effectively over it's not. Now Houston will be like a pack of wild stallions...........running with nothing to lose.

i know it makes things easier for us. and i also know we still have to play the game. but i wish yao was in there. and the reason is this, when the rockets stole a game from us, and when the rockets played down right physical with us, WE UPPED OUR INTENSITY. kobe said he and the guys took it as a challenge and down right came in and laid it on the line and pushed back. and you know what? our guys responded. they became physical and played tough on the glass. the focus was UP BIG TIME. and the intensity was through the roof. when we responded to the challenge i knew we were gonna get these guys. but it was great to see. we need to go through some diversity and some challenging times, and yaos 7-4 or 7-6 frame was down right tough on our interior defense. anyhow, i know without a doubt we wouldve won either way. but goin up against the best center in the league wouldve gotten our guys prepped and ready for anything in the next rounds.
