OT: Yankees failing...

Post#1 » by trellaine201 » Fri May 8, 2009 11:59 pm

Not exactly Jays related but somewhat I suppose depending on how you look at it. I really have to laugh at the Yankees and their record/payroll and more importantly their roster loaded with over paid/overagers who are getting injured on a regular basis. It seems every few days they have injuries. It really does look good on them as an organization. I hope they free fall and don't make the post season!

A-Rod roided one on the first pitch he saw today. Yanks going on one of those hot streaks mid-season is what worries me.

This season will get infinitely better than it already is if we can sweep the Yanks next week.

The Yankees are still one of the best teams in the AL. It just may not be enough to make the playoffs again.

Yanks getting flogged by the O's never fails to amuse.

They just buy up players who are going for their last big contract. Once they get it they tend to relax and not work as hard. And most of the time those players are paid for their past accomplishments and on the downside of their career.

They were stupid to throw all that money on three players that aren't even that good. Burnett is an often-injured mediocre pitcher, Sabathia is good but not great and Teixeira is a dime-a-dozen 1st baseman with some power. You can tell that Burnett and Sabathia are the types of players who play hard when they have a big payday at stake but stop playing after they get their big contract. The Yanks probably could have had Santana a couple years ago. He's the type of player they should have gotten - a clear-cut #1 pitcher that will put 100% no matter what.

I'm just glad we don't have to pay that bum Burnett anymore. We have so many younger, hungrier, and more talented pitchers than Burnett. I seriously wouldn't trade our team for the Yankees team. They're a collection of overpaid bums who are just there for the paycheque.

The Yankees are turning into the Knicks. Throw as much money around as you can and assume that the team will be able to contend.

We get excited about this every year, but the reality is the Yankees ALWAYS get off to a slow start. They'll go on some outrageous run mid way through the season and be right back in the playoff hunt. With that said, I still can't help but enjoy their struggles.

their best player (arguably) hasn't played a game yet. they will get better and we will be fighting them off in the not so distant future i'm sure

which is why we need to capitalize on our hot start, and at least take 2/3 from this homestand with the Yanks. we all seem to agree that a hot run/streak by them is inevitable, so let's make it tougher for them to catch us

Seeing the Skankees struggle is a pleasure for most baseball fans outside of New York.

Now you can add watching the Red Shmux struggle to the list of fun things to watch in baseball.

The Yankees were 22-29 after May in 2007 and finished with 94 wins.

The Yankees were 39-38 after June in 2005 and finished 28 games above .500.

Being 15-16 at this point means nothing for them. It's the Yankees after all. Teixeira is not going to hit under .200 for the entire season and we won't see Angel Berroa and Cody Ransom play ever again.

We said that last year but the late season run never came. I think people underestimated Torre's ability to get a bunch of overpaid players to play well together when it counts.

the yankees seem to be going through what the jays went through not too long ago. they are not getting good coaching imo. they are just not the same team since torre left. they are a better team then they are right now so they could get hot but i just cant see it happening. i hope im right and they finish towards the bottom of the east.

The Yankees will be fine (at least 90 wins). There is too much talent on that roster for them not to be fine.
