Just looking at the mock drafts and who is slotted to go where and the fact that 5 teams have multiple picks and one of them has 3 and all but one fall in the last 7 of the first round it certainly is a possibility to swap a future 1st to get into the first round.
Who is that guy for you?
Guys who I would jump on if they slide are Tyreke Evans and either guy from Louisville, Clark or Willams, but I don't think it will happen.
I really like Wayne Ellington and Sam Young I think they could be stars in the NBA, but the one guy I might trade in there for question marks and all is Austin Daye.
- Evans has massive shooting deficiencies and a super-sized ego in an undersized body - looks like a Tony Allen wannabe to me
- Earl Clark will be a productive role player, but there is no way he has what it takes upstairs to be a star player - say hello to the next Tim Thomas
- Wayne Ellington will be in Europe before too long or he'll be sitting on his ass collecting splinters - can't create his own shot in the NBA, undersized for the 2 and has not speed or explosiveness - he's a specialist shooter who just isn't a good enough pure shooter to fill that role - pass
- Sam Young is the real deal - but that deal is as a defensive stopper/3-point specialist until he shows that he can effectively shoot off the dribble against NBA defenders - I think he's got a chance to be very solid, but i'd look at Bruce Bowen-to-Raja Bell type production.
- Terrance Williams is the most intriguing prospect IMO - but he is terrible shooting right now - he shows flashes, but he has to harness them to become a star - the rest of his game is star caliber, but if he can't score dynamically he will be a bench player...would trade up to get him in a heartbeat though - 3 position player defensively.
- Austin Daye intrigues everyone, but he's got a 10 cent head....not sure i'd give him guarenteed dollars.
Mostly so...though Daye isn't a dummy..his thing is he's VERY skinny without the tactics to compensate. Even as a SF he needs 15 lb or he's a Peja with less range. He won't bulk much but just 15 lb and strong and he's got impact potential.
I'd assume Ray Allen plays out his deal. The whole plan was jump to a win now mode with a short window of opportunity. Ray's trade value now? Mostly you get the usual fat contract/more years.
There's not any big plus in there. You might however get a little longer window.
