the NBa is about winning...PERIOD. I doubt we will see Powe in a Celtics uniform ever again. Why take a risk on a guy with two knee injuries? Doc felt bad because Doc knows it's over for Leon. What he will do is they will allow him to rehab the knee and utilize the medical facilities and training. If he doesn't end up anywhere else, he will get a camp invite, but no way does he get a full year, much less a multi year deal.

There are dozens of players out there that can fill Leon's shoes.

Tough break for the kid, it really is.

Leon made himself a lot of money in the playoffs last year. He just watched it walk out the door this year.

I think he would have got a decent amount of interest from other teams before the injury, but is unlikely to now.

He is a great player (with some very specific limitations, like defensive rotations), so I hope to see him back but it would be surprising to see another team offer him $$ or the Celtics offer more than a short deal.

Allen/House money.

2 yr, 4mil.

No sense giving him 1 yr deal. if he comes back at the end of next season, we want him for another year at low $.

Leon's Qualifying Offer is for about 1 million bucks. Boston can offer him that and he will be theirs for this season, no one is going to sign him to an offer sheet. I agree that it only makes sense to sign him to a 2 year deal. Chances are Leon was going to have to play for the QO this year anyhow, so 1 year 1 mil + a team option at a slight bump makes sense for Boston, we have 3 guys on the roster right now that are worse than Leon injured. Obviously the money and the roster spot may complicate things but I expect it will happen.

I'm a Leon Powe fan so I may be biased. However, I think Leon at least deserves the minimum from the Celtics. He played hurt for the C's in the playoffs to help the team out. There was something wrong with Leon just like KG, but obviously Leon was probably more expendable but just as tough as KG, so they let him play through it. I would think that the front office and Doc know that as well;that being Leon put the team first, and not himself. Leon's a great teammate, and also a warrior, a beast, tough as nails; whatever you want to call him, you couldn't ask for a better teammate. He will be back to make it through rehab, as he's gone through too much in his life to let this get in his way. I wish him the best of luck in recovery. Also, wish him and his family good luck and hope he recovers well.

But, does anyone know what happened to his twitter account? I remember he had one...maybe it got suspended.

LOL how are you supposed to do 'microfracture' on an ACL?

Well this is per the wiretap on 5/5. I probably misunderstood, but took that to mean he had some sort of microfacture on or around his acl. *shrug*
The Boston Celtics announced today that forward Leon Powe underwent successful ACL revision reconstruction with microfracture and cartilage repair at New England Baptist Hospital this morning.

We are overvaluing Leon here...I like him but I highly doubt he's seen as more than an 8th or 9th man by most other teams. He'll get the min for a season or two with us and if he can stay healthy then he may get some more...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Yeah that isn't great news. With someone Leon's age microfracture certainly makes sense, but it means he has no cartilage in his knee and if it works it will take two years to return to form. It is a procedure that is constantly improving but the guys who sit out a calendar year before balling again seem to return to form better than the guys who try to play that first season. Two years is a long time for an All Star for a guy fighting for his basketball life it is an eternity.
