Bobcats War Room- Lucky Pick Seven - 2009

Post#1 » by August Us Seazr » Mon May 11, 2009 2:40 am

All right, citizens of Bobcats Nation, our group will come to order. I hope that all have had a great weekend and that all of the ladies looking in have been honored by their children today. And for those of us whose mom has passed from this life, that we have had a time to appreciate how we have been blessed by their lives. Great day Moms, everywhere!

Well, there are a couple of whodathunkits that we have seen lately. 1-Whodathunk that Houston loses Yao for the balance of the playoffs and then torpedoes the Lakers? ( Lakers) 2-Whodathunk that we would have Hasheem Thabeet as the winner at pick six? A bigger, taller, no mistaking HIM for a center. But like our incumbent center, where's the beef on offense? Still, he is young and 7' 3". If he has the desire and the work ethic, he will do well wherever he lands.

On to business at hand. Pick number seven. A place where we have not drafted before. Our needs are still a scoring shooting guard, an offensive minded power forward or center, and improvement on the court. Oh yes, one and two equals three- after the rookie year. So far, in addition to selecting Hasheem Thabeet, we have chosen Tyreke Evans, Demar DeRozan, James Harden, Ricky Rubio, and Blake Griffin, so don't look to vote for them again.

We have nine names to work with... and a tenth if you want to Go HAMILTON! and vote none of the above. Are you ready to vote? Good voting. And bring us that missing piece!

I looked at these names, trying to get a fix on how I would rank them for the seventh pick. I know that Hill is the value pick. But what has Arizona done lately? I look at Jennings, Flynn, and Lawson, and realize that we did select a really good point guard last year that I want to see with this team for a long time. It's still too early for Henderson, Budinger, and Curry to make an appearance. Same for Johnson. And I was pretty tempted to go with Earl Clark- a power forward who has trained under Coach Pitino. But wait. Right school- wrong position. My vote goes....

Terrence Williams - Shooting Guard whom we all love- from Louisville.

Hey, its early. Everybody knows that. But we are not the Knicks. We are selecting a guy at seven who may actually be around at twelve if that's where the lottery ball leaves us. We could do A LOT WORSE...............

Jordan Hill again... for the same reason as last time. He has by far the highest ceiling remaining.

I'm going to keep voting for Terrence Williams until the majority agrees.

Some of you guys didn't really look into the prospects just went into draftexpress.com and saw Chris Wilcox comparison for Hill and now are seriously underrating him. How is he still on the board?

By a 2-1 margin, Jordan Hill is the seventh man onto our Big Board. I'm proud of the majority, even though I voted in the minority. So, even though we may not carry this day, tomorrow might be another story!       Where's that PHILOSOPHER smilie?

Kidding aside. Hill is good value according to the mocks. My 5 mock spreadsheet has him tied with Thabeet as the # 2 pick. Congratulations to those voting Hill, and thanks to all who voted. On to # 8. :D
