Forgive me for what must be an ignorant question, but what happened to Doc Walker? I always thought he was pretty good on the radio.

Doc is still there. In fact, he interviewed Zorn,Vinny and Snyder a few weeks ago on Friday afternoon

Usually after a business acquisition, you wait a year before cleaning house. It's about a year since Snyder's group bought control of AM 980. So, I'd expect to see more changes coming.

Doc is the best person on the station easily.

I liked BMitch. He wasn't shy about killing the skins when they were in the wrong, which under the Snyder era has been most of the time. They're filling the airwaves with shills and yes-men, and starving out all discussions of anything non-football-related. Koken actually knew hockey, god forbid, littel Snyder can;t stand to hear anyone steal his thunder. It must be killing him that the Caps are suddenly relevant while his monstrous amphitheater has to beg people to buy tickets, with their farce of a ten year waiting list, and people selling tickets by the tens of thousands to Steeler fans. Joke.

I wrote their radio Director a note saying I quit the station and plan to write a similar note to all their advertisers. I got better things to do with my earwaves than to hear 8 hours a day of Redskins advertising. As soon as they kill of the voices of dissent I have no use for them or their product. I'd rather find interesting podcasts or listen to I dunno, Spanish learning CDs or whatnot.

I just don't see how 980 can afford to cut the Czabe. The sports reporters is the top show on the station. He is the face of Washington DC sports talk. What personality will they replace him with?

Someone who doesn't have a personal agenda against the Redskins. Mitchell is still bitter about being let go for Sanders. He's still bitter that the only thing he did in his career was be a return specialist. He's a jealous man who would take out his built up frustration by taking shots at Portis every week. I am happy to hear that B-Mitch is gone, dude was a complete tool when the season started. He had one agenda and it was to hate on CP26.

Czaban, don't know where the franchise did him wrong but he is also one of the guys who hates on players and members of the organization for no rhyme or reason.

I don't mind critical analysis at all. I love listening to Doc Walker. His player interviews are awesome because he gets to the point and doesn't hesitate to ask tough questions. He does his job without a personal vendetta against the team. But Czaban, Bitchell and a bunch of others provide nothing to the casual listener who want to hear an unbiased report and commentary on the local teams.

I’m a Wizard fan! I don’t support the redskins, the caps, the nats, or the orioles mainly because of the way those fans treat and speak of the Wizards. Because espn98 is the only station to broadcast Wizard games I’m forced to listen there negative, insulting, often fact less based opinions and comments! B-Mitch and John Thompson both seemed to have had personal grudges against Gilbert and the Wizard organization in general. It was sickening to listening them say whatever they wanted to say going virtually unchallenged for accuracy or truth.

From a Wizards fans perspective I am certainly glad to see them go! The level of disrespect displayed toward the Wizards and there fans warranted them getting fired, in my opinion. For all you Doc Walker fans think back to all the ridiculous things he has said about the Wizards! Ever time He and Kevin Sheehan talk NBA I cringe! What totally ridiculous things are they going say this time and not be challenged by anyone who is a fan of the NBA. I am constantly amazed at there depth of knowledge of the redskins and just how little they know, how shallow there knowledge is of the Wizards and of the NBA in general! Other than to laugh at 20 year old draft and free agent choices what do they really know? Can someone tell me please? Other than to poke fun at the organization what insight do the actually offer?

Glad to see him gone and hope John Thompson is next…………..! For a former basketball coach, what he brings to the table in the form of analysis is a joke! Does he even watch Wizard games at all? Have ever heard him break down a game and offer any useful insight what so ever? I have much to say about him but I will save that for another rant!

3rd post.

I'm ok with John, he breaks down the games you just have to turn on the radio.

LlllOooooLlllll.

Ya know - just a crazy thought out of the blue - but I wonder what Ken Beatrice does for a living nowadaze. I couldn't stand to listen to him for more than 10 minutes at a time and his interviews were uniformly terrible, but the guy was the king of sports talk in this town before WTEM. Could he make a comeback?

Ken Beatrice was the man. He knew little tidbits about everybody. You could ask some random question about a college recruit for the University of Nowhere and Ken would tell you the kid's mother's maiden name and the time on his 40 yard dash from his sophomore year in high school.

One other guy I liked from long ago was Dan Miller. He was one of the first radio guys for WTEM about 15 years ago when they first started.

Dan Miller's doing great in Detroit - last I heard. I like him a lot, as well - partly because I used to work with his brother-in-law. He was informative and had a good personality and delivery - also had the looks to be a tv guy.

Ken Beatrice was a big reason I became a sports fan. My father wasn't interested in sports at all. I was a kid and I would call Ken Beatrice's office and he took my thoughts and opinions seriously. He was always great on the fire with kids as well. I'm sure his style grated on a lot of people, but he was definitely an institution and provided me with many hours of knowledge and enjoyment. Hopefully he is enjoying his retirement somewhere.

Ji, this might be your best post in five and a half years. This could be the beginning of the the breaking of the curse.

4-3-2 DOUBLE-U-m-a-l, that's the number.....sportscall is YOUR show...

KEn was a big influence on me too. I still have audio tapes of me somewhere calling into the show. but amazingly, as was mentioned above, he took calls in his office during the day and would have a discussion with you. I was what, 10? And he'd talk to me about why Jeffrey Hammonds might not be the next Ricky Henderson, or remind me that if he could predict future outcomes, he'd be on wall street and not WMAL.

The guy was a total gem.

Try the Jamocha.
